Milestone has confirmed that WRC 3, the official video game of the 2012 FIA World Rally Championship, is set for release in October 2012 on PS3, Xbox 360, Vita and PC.

The racer will use a completely new graphics and game engine, developed in-house, and features all the rallies in the 2012 WRC calendar, complete with all leading WRC teams and drivers in a revamped career mode.

As well as all this, the game has improved crowd effects, rebuilt stages and new cinematic introductions to each stage. It’ll also feature more than 50 official WRC teams, alongside Class 2 and Class 3 series, plus Super Special Stages.

All bad things come in three's Cool Face New engine though, or at least they say so Razz

what was the last game that featured full length rallies? or maybe there wasn't one? sick of these bite size 1-2 minute rally stages in recent "rally" games. 5-10 years ago rally games had stages 5-15 mins long, and now.... Crying or Very sad

Yeah, I'm not convinced either Laughing. Looks like the old engine, just with more bloom and pp effects Razz

@Intel_NVIDIA: if you can stomach the outdated graphics, RBR + 2012 update (rsrbr2012) is what you need Smile

At least they could have decent physics. Colin 2 still has better physics than all Dirts and last two WRCs. Really, its a bloody rally game. They don't need to bother with AI, all their work should be focused on a decent driving model and fun stages. But apparently thats the last thing on mind for developers, they just spend all their time modeling absurd amount of cars, driving modes and generating countless generic tracks that all drive the same.

I was talking about the unrealistic behavior of the car, which seemed floating without a proper weight, a typical "feature" in arcadish pick and play racing games. Let's just say that I'm still pissed at the chronic lack of a rally sim Razz

For me the problem with the previous one wasn't that it was arcade. The problem was that it was such an abysmal game.

This company should definitely stop making racing games, they clearly don't know what they're doing. And yet they keep buying great licenses Crying or Very sad Laughing

I did have more fun with the previous one than with DeRP 3 though. As bad as it was, at least the cars didn't drive themselves. Laughing

Bumper/bonnet cam ftw! Very Happy

Anyways, this doesn't look SO bad. Deffinitely a step up from WRC2. But it seems like it's not a huge step Very Happy

Honestly I don't know, it looks better and slightly more refined than the previous game, but the road to become a good rally game is still long. If by any chance the guys at Milestone manage to churn out something "decent" this time, well, color me very impressed Laughing Razz
