Well yeah it's cute and it's a bit like FF meets Pokemon but honestly it's the best (single player) FF game SE chummed out in years.

Looks good, especially since you can switch to normal characters instead of using the chibi ones. Will play after I'm done with D:OS 2 Smile

Out on Steam now, 40 Euro / USD but it seems the DLC is included (With a few digital extras for buyers before Nov 28th.) though in comparison the PS4 version is 30 Euro / USD.

No idea how the port is, Steam forum is mostly bickering about if/if not Denuvo and the recently revealed price so it'll be a few hours before some more info on performance and port quality is available.
(As usual early purchasers will probably spam the reviews as soon as the minimal playtime requirement is met, best to be a bit critical of some of these first reviews for that reason.)

EDIT: 30 FPS, windowed mode and no graphics settings from the sounds of it.

It uses steams settings panel by right clicking the game in the library (no idea how that works in the yarr version though) config tool has: display mode (fullscreen or windowed),resolution, shadow res and post-processing, game is 30 fps but that was to be expected even the pro version runs at 30 so everything is most likely tied to the framerate as always.

It's apparently a starter to ease new players into Final Fantasy, think Mystic Quest vs. Final Fantasy III on NES for example albeit this time I guess it's less "Get fucked!" when the unwitting victim tries the main series after completely steamrolling the entry game. Razz
(I mean the newer installments have some difficulty to them but nowhere near the NES games level.)

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest or just Mystic Quest was after all pretty much panned for it's extremely forgiving difficulty level (The first fight might kill you since it's entirely RNG though.) and trivial dungeons in addition to very forgiving encounters and minimal spell and equipment count.
(Whereas even the first Final Fantasy game on NES had a huge range of spells and equipment..and bugs ha ha.)

But yeah it's supposed to be a easier, more simple game for a younger audience. Smile

From how I understood it at least, pretty popular too.
(Art style is a bit of a personal opinion whether players prefer Chibi or not I guess.)

Seems a sequel might be in the making too.

Square Enix has announced World of Final Fantasy Maxima, an enhanced version of the original World of Final Fantasy. It will launch worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on November 6.

Details are sparse as to what exactly this "powered-up" version of the game includes new from the original release, but the Nintendo Direct presentation showed up the player can now use Avatar Change to transform into chibi versions of classic Final Fantasy characters.
Additionally, Zack Fair from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Noctis from Final Fantasy XV, Serah from Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Firion from Final Fantasy II were also shown as new additions to the game.

The game's Japanese website has opened, revealing a few more details about the game. Firstly, it shows that players who already own World of Final Fantasy on PS4 or Steam can upgrade to Maxima with a separate DLC, priced at 2400 yen. It also shows that players can participate in a new fishing minigame featuring Noctis.

The website also shows Cecil (Final Fantasy IV) and Y'shtola (Final Fantasy XIV) as newcomers to this new version.

PlayStation 4 and PC users who already own the original World of Final Fantasy will also be able to purchase the newly added content via the “World of Final Fantasy Maxima Upgrade” downloadable content for 2,400 yen. (Western price not yet announced.)

It's pretty polarizing as it's Final Fantasy but a spin-off being more like Pokemon relying more on capturing and summing monsters and then the strategy with being different sized so you can use stacking.

It's simple after a bit of trial and error but I really liked it, the update seems like it fleshes things out a bit but it's not critical for anything although if you haven't played the game then this is probably a good time to give it a try.

Tama the little fuzzball and guide can really get on your nerves with it's little verbal tic and how it talks though. Razz
And they aren't afraid of poking fun at some of the earlier main installments though some get more representation than others. Very Happy

Plenty of game too and a lot of content but yeah it's something like Dirge and other side-games and not what you'd usually expect from Final Fantasy I suppose.
