The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom, the next iteration in the popular multi-million selling strategy game franchise for PC. Scheduled for release in spring 2010, The Settlers 7: Paths to a KingdomTM gives gamers the opportunity to choose the best way to lead their kingdom to victory, in a rich environment set in middle-Europe during the early Renaissance.
“The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom brings The Settlers® franchise to a new level in the strategy-game genre, relying on the key mechanisms that made the series a success while innovating and giving the gamers the opportunity to build their own thrilling experience.” said John Parkes, Marketing Director EMEA at Ubisoft
Developed by the Ubisoft Blue Byte studio located in Düsseldorf, Germany, The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom ties in with the tradition of the series success while bringing a fresh, modern and innovative strategy game, based on strong game mechanics and deep gameplay that are hallmarks of the highly acclaimed Settlers franchise. Players will easily become engaged in an exciting campaign, skirmish maps or multi-player challenges in a world of lush forests, open meadows, fast flowing rivers, and high mountains.
Game will use very unfriendly DRM system. Internet connection is required during gameplay, disconnect forces game into a pause mode till the internet connect is reestablished. Savegames are stored at Ubisoft servers.
Fileplanet beta for Settlers 7, might need it's own thread now but I kinda suck at that template thing so it wouldn't look good at all.
(Edited the Space Siege thread like 30 times and it's still pretty bad, heh.)
Well the game seems to run ok. Some stuttering and texture issues(when zoomed far).
Saving system seems to work too(if it indeed uses cloud saving),but we'll see how it works when retail hits.
Gameplay wise...feels like settlers to me(been a while since I've actually played a settlers game). But I only started, will have to play more to see what's what.
the settlers sucked since settlers 3 . (i.e. 3,4,5,6 totally sucked and each sucked more than the one before .. fuck,, 5 and 6 were like cheap AoE copies ...) ...
Dunno,I liked that last Settlers game since it was based on building towns again, without having to learn so much about strategies or micromanagement
That is,I still liked S2 more and skipped every other Settlers game since then, but 6 managed to get me hooked again,I hope 7 will be as good
On a related note, anyone has an alternate download link for the beta?waiting 30 minutes on FP just to test which server is faster isn't really the best solution
I have been looking forward to this game pretty badly... but I don't have a beta key sadly, and it's only for US and UK atm. I tried with anonymus proxy and clearing my cookies/cache, but fileplanet has another method of checking where I am from, and I don't have the time to fool it now.
Instead, I would like to ask someone to possibly give me a beta key please, if you have them.
I finally got around to install the beta and what do I read on their forums?
Servers shutting down tomorrow...I'm guessing that also means no more singleplayer for it as well since the new protection method is 100% online
I'd bettere enjoy the game tonight...
You can set in the options menu to allow it to store saves online (That little gear icon.), via that launcher/protection thing, not the actual game, or just set the Settings.ini SaveOnline=true to SaveOnline=false
( C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\ by default, (x86) for x64 OS's)
Should work fine or you can try setting it from the launcher when starting the game.
(There's that brief 5 second countdown before it autostarts the game.)
Tried it a bit,I liked the last Settlers more
Then again,I've only played 2 and 6 so far and skipped all the others (with a brief relationship with 3 or 4,and I hated it)

Hahahaha! It will be cracked and all Ubisoft will get is angry legit customers.
And when it does get cracked I know what to do. I'm gonna quote Darth Vader, "Today will be a day long remembered. It has seen the death of DRM, and will soon see the end of UBISOFT"
