I didnt know this guy, but I like him!

Thanks for the links guys.. Smile

I'll just say that this 1% difference between us and the chimps is not really about what we are able to do and think right now, but about the possibility of scientific progress. f.e.: Thales did not know about quantum physics. So even with other life-forms 100% more intelligent than us, we still have a lot to discover scientifically (maybe not as much as them). Science is a societal and historical progress that develops over time. I dont know about any other species on this planet that has been passing on knowledge in this way. (Well, there are obviously animals that pass on specific techniques to their offspring)

I could imagine two things: 1. In time we could develop our scientific knowledge further (eventhough we would still be more stupid individually than those other lifeforms) and get to know alot more about the universe than we do now (given we dont destroy ourselves or our ressources first). 2. Our species is certainly not the end-of-line in the evolution of life on this planet. Other species could evolve from us that learn faster and progress faster than we do. We are just another step in the evolution anyway.
