Just heard about this game and seeing how it hasn't been mentioned here I figured I should make a topic about it.

Trailer:

Seems to be a old school point and click adventure game with classic graphics with a dystopian/cyberpunk setting. I am personally interested, kinda reminds me of bladerunner and beneath a steel sky.

Release is set to 24th february 2011 so it's not that far away.

argh...

The game runs at 320x240 or 640x480 (depends on whether you select directdraw 5 or directx 9) by default. The only way to use a higher resolution is if you select a scaling filter which will double or triple that resolution etc. But half of these filters will crash the game. There's an option to run it in window mode but it crashes as well..

Seems that the creator really wanted to make an old-school game meant to be played with 90s tech and resolutions...

what did you expect ITS AGS engine , the max resolution in DirectDraw 5 is 960x600 under Ags ,so use window mode and 3x nearest filter Wink

I didn't know it's an AGS game and I didn't know of AGS' limitations.. I think it was crashing/refusing to start in window mode with every combination of settings I tried. But I'll try again.

I looked at the screenshots and I definately liked what I saw, I'm a sucker for 2D graphics when they're well done. Atmosphere-wise, it reminded me both of Blade Runner and Beneath a Steel Sky.

Definately getting this.

There is a release, apparently. Not a scene one, but I couldn't care less - there's no copy protection anyway.

25.02-Gemini Rue [FINAL]

Be sure to rename the .exe to "Gemini Rue.exe" instead of "Gemini_Rue.exe" though; I suppose those morons didn't realize that with that underscore in the filename you can't access the setup.

Haven't been able to play it yet but I'm looking forward to it. Does it manage to keep the classic adventure feel as much as it looks like?

As far as I've heard, yes it does. I'm looking forward to playing it as well.

I don't have problems with the mouse. It's comfortable and smooth. It must be something on your end.

Seconded. Never had a problem with mouse in any AGS game I've ever played, and Gemini Rue is no exception.

Finished the game, it was an ok time killer, nothing more. Too much time spent in elevators and finding the correct room numbers in the hotels. Shooting is appreciated in this type of game, add more action to it, but the mechanic is too simple / broke. Story was awesome though, at last a game were you are a badass and actually kill peoples, not some "I want to help everybody" type. There is a single point where I got stuck, right near the start when you are in jail and you have to fix the elevator, searched for the wire for 2 hours.

Is it like Beneath a Steel Sky? Or Blade Runner?

Concept and gameplay-wise its a lot like BASS but the protagonist is similar to the one in Blade Runner.

The atmosphere reminds me of Blade Runner, the game itself on BASS but this one is better imo. The voice acting surprised me, the main character has a very cool voice and the director reminds me of an actor can't remember which one, probably just sounds like him.

The story would make for a very good movie, atmosphere something like Equilibrium, Christian Bale can be the main protagonist again although he seems to be everywhere these days.
