Jagged Alliance games, most preferably #2 with the 1.13 community patch. Won't get more micro than this. Not fantasy though.
Also Dragon Age 1, and strictly #1.
Maybe KOTOR.
Mount and Blade games, preferably Warband.
Nexus - The Jupiter Incident is micro as hell. Sci-Fi tho.

Caesar 3 (strictly 3)
Pharaons
Zeus
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 or 3
Transport Tycoon
Best micro management games EVER.
OR try strategy turns games like :
Might and magic heroes 6
King's bounty with all addons.

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning is a good game. Also Dark Souls for PC is coming in 3 mounts, so you may want to check it out too.

You can never 'try' Freelancer enough. Just do yourself a favor and install it again and do a play through. Then download the Discovery mod and play on the official Discovery server that usually has 100+ people on it for some great fun.

It's worth sticking with the Civ games until it "clicks" because when it does you've got somthing that will last you months, or even years
I'm going to go find the latest patch for Civ5 and get it installed

Yeah I have tried the Civ games over and over but can never really get the feel of them. Maybe I should try again.

I played Risen 2 for about 20 hours but just could not get up the interest to finish it, it seemed to be the same puzzles over and over again in a slightly different setting.
But thanks for all the replies more are appreciated.
