2 Lazy for the descriptions, but wanted to open this topic for a reason:
The RELOADED release might have a VIRUS called Ratnet.exe ..here's a copy paste of my prob:
-----
"Please insert disk 1"....WHAT?!?!??!...FAIL DOWNLOAD!!!!
The ISO has a virus called ratnec.exe wich tries to install something on bootup, stucking the PC's loading!!!!
To remove it (incase you have the fail),go to C:\Users\your user here\appdata (hidden folder)\roaming\ratnec.exe
DELETE THE FILE and the PC will boot normally..i'm doing a kaspersky scan as i write this...WATCH-OUT!
--------
This happens when mounting the ISO in Daemon Tools, running the setup and a message says "If you like it,buy it" (or something),then when it's about to install it says "please insert disk 1" and the Examine button's there..yet the ISO has NOTHING about that!
When rebooting the system the C:\Users\your user here\appdata \roaming\ratnec.exe window appears as if it was registering something before the desktop appears..and it stays there forever
Just do what i said,go to the URL and delete the shit in safe mode..reboot,then recover ya PC. Scanning with Kaspersky IS 2012 finds no viruses (yet malwarebytes, from another user's comments) says it has a VIRUS...and it has indeed (too late to warn though)
So all i say is...BEWARD OF THE FRIGGIN RELEASE!!!!

It probably depends where you get the release
I got Far Cry 2 from a torrent site ages ago and there was a virus in the autorun, the game was still there untouched, but somebody had taken the time to put some shitty little ad virus in the iso, nothing serious

got it from another source, different installation! (custom repack thing i guess from spain),no viruses (scanned after unpack, the iso, after installl...),no booting probs..relase workin perfectly WHEN RUNNING IN FULL SCREEN (if windowed the game skips some frames at high speed..like...2 or 3 seconds in 1 second!)
*Drama over* sorry for everything..i repeat, the game works now from another source (watch out with Demonoid.me torrents..they're the cause of this topic!)

You can disable autorun by doing this
Spoiler: |
Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following entry in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun
Right-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0xFF to disable all types of drives. Or, to selectively disable specific drives, use a different value as described in the "How to selectively disable specific Autorun features" section.
Click OK, and then exit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer. |
Java you can only uninstall |
It was a reinstall of XP, I always forget to disable something after a reformat
If I had disabled autorun there's still be a Far Cry 2 iso with the virus in it, so it worked out, shame I ran the damn thing 3 times before it registered something was wrong
Java is a pain for viruses, like DV2 I use it for Jdownloader and get hit sometimes while searching some of the more questionable sites
