[story]
Corruption, murder, betrayal, conspiracy...and that's just the opening sequence.

As a 12 year old boy you watch your father (a navy Criminal Investigation Division officer) and mother murdered. Growing up a juvenile deliquent you finally get released to freedom at age 18. Mayhem, revenge and retribution are on the cards as you set about avenging your parents the only way you know how.

Build up a crew or go it alone...take on a marine corps camp, drug lords' compound, kidnap an influential figure, assassinate a target for money. Build wealth and influence, mass an arsenal, command ships, all in the name of Retribution.

XBOX 2

Although Cry Havok and Retribution are using the same engine

It's just special effects, there is little artistic value.

2007 is a long way away. This engine could be completely obsolete by then.

i think the developers would have thought of that already. probably using an engine they can update as time goes on to ensure future proofing.

By 2007 my RTS games could be looking like that.

Let's hope they know what they're doing.

Dont think it was very special, by 2007 graphics like that will be considered mediocre at best. FarCry or HL2 looks just as good or better and they're out..

I'm more looking forward to the gameplay, it sounds rather impressive.

Graphics wise some of those scenes could have been lifted straight out of farcry 1.1.

Huh?
It's not the cryengine at all.
Actual quote from the url.
"Retribution uses Artificial Studio's advanced game engine – Reality"

The reality engine is not by any means the cryengine. Two different engines.

Not very impressed by the way. As AnimalMother said, farcry can deliver that. So for a 2007 title it will be quite mediocre.

Although Cry Havok and Retribution are using the same engine, certainly they're set very differently and probably focused on different element

Yes, but keep in mind that HL2 already have been developed in 7 years. And the game designer maybe didnt had the idea until now. If youre thinking like that, all games would already been released

Fukk! I'd better start saving for A64 Dual-core, with 2 gigs of Dual-channel ddr2, and two GeForces 8990 in SLI Very Happy and everything under control of Windows Longhorn which will eat 75% of that's rig power lol.

That's screens look totally AWSOME Shocked
That's kind of look I was expecting from HL2 Very Happy

What makes those shots so nice looking is Pixel shader. I don't think you will get similar graphics unless you have a Pixel shader 3.0+ enabled card.
