Saw this coming up a few days ago, the site or trailer werent very informative for someone who isnt familiar with the original mod. What kind of game is this exactly?

The less you know the better... You will find it more surprising.
But Ok. The mod was like this:
There's a narrator saying eg Stanley went through the red door.
But in front of you are a red door a green door and say a ladder.
Depending on where you choose to go the narrator will continue the story differently acknowledging your decision in a humorous way.
As you can understand there are many paths and many endings depending on where you go, the order in which you go to places, etc.
It's very funny and also pretty clever in the way it shows you how your choices change (or not) the outcome.
There's no other gameplay. Just walking and maybe flipping a switch.

That sounds kinda awesome. ill wait for the standalone to try it out but very curious now

I couldn't agree more, that must be the most unique demo that I've ever played, such a brilliant way to involve the player
It's the first time that I see some developers putting so much effort into a demo

BTW the full game (if the mod is an indication) is a bit different. The tone is absolutely the same, but it explores "choice". There were already moments like that in the demo (will you wait for your number?) but the mod was way more focused on that aspect if I remember well and I expect the HD remix to be as well.

I believe you, the launch trailer alone made even more curious than I already was after finishing the demo
I bet the mod has been overhauled to the point that it's almost unrecognizable, which is great.

I never played original, keep forgetting to check it. Mow that "remastered" version is out I finally tried it.

Turns out the team making it were less than committed and one of them was even actively avoiding working with the creator, which eventually devolved into the creator no longer enjoying the idea of the game and its development and the developers no longer wanting to work on it.
