Double Fine Productions' Costume Quest 2 is a sequel to the 2010 original and is headed to consoles and PC this Halloween. The original Costume Quest grew out of Double Fine's annual Amnesia Fortnight game jam. It tells a story set on a Halloween night of twins who dress up and assume the powers of their costumes. Twins Reynold and Wren will also star in its sequel, and you can see Double Fine's announcement video below.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
Oh thank god... I read that at first and thought that CQ2 wasn't going to be a game but a comic.. and I was sads Thank god it's just something ALONGSIDE -- now just tell me more about CQ2!!
The turn-based combat system remains, but instead of popup windows of minigames, you'll press buttons in conjunction with the attacks as they happen. Get the timing right and you can roll them into combos and gain more strength for your character. Combat also gets more interesting because you are encouraged to use more battle stamps (some of which last multiple battles), which work on cooldown timers. Similarly, party members' health carries over between fights, with fountains in the overworld available to regenerate health.
The demo I saw took place around the new Bayou/French Quarter level in the beginning of the game, with trick-or-treating down near the swamp, pinatas full of candy, and a sidequest to rustle up a crowd for a local street band. In general, Double Fine says that locations in Costume Quest 2 will be much larger than those in the first (some of which will return), and also feature interiors (the demo featured the inside of a jazz club in one of the side missions).
Hopefully these additions to the game address some of the concerns people had of the first title, while naturally retaining the series' charm and accessibility.
Costume Quest 2 comes out this Halloween for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, Mac, and Linux.
While the Candy Corn costume made an unplayable appearance in the first game, in the sequel it's one of your options. It's essentially useless, as the player wearing the Candy Corn get up simply sits out his or her turn — every single time. The only action is a message explaining the character's inaction, something along the lines of "Candy Corn has nothing to prove" or "Candy Corn decides to sit this one out." Double Fine hopes to have somewhere around a thousand variations on that line that explains why Candy Corn just stands there idle.
In fact, Double Fine has an achievement built into the game for players who wear the Candy Corn costume the entire game, limiting your party to two members, instead of three. "It's hard-corn mode," Rice said.
gimmegimmegimmegimmegimmegimmegimmegimmegimme!!!!! Even if Tim Schaefer is a scam-artist supporting douchebag, he's making Costume Quest 2 and that absolves him of EVERYTHING because I'm a spineless coward and must have it
The first features Costume Quest 2 and four classic costumes, or get the Pre-Purchase Costume Quest 2 Bundle with exclusive costumes plus the original Costume Quest game & Grubbins on Ice DLC. That’s a crazy good deal!
The four classic costumes making a return from the original include Robot, Unicorn, Eyeball and Pumpkin – each featuring their signature moves! Mow through Kronys with the Robot’s ‘Missile Barage’ or bring back KO’d friends with the Unicorn’s ‘My Pretty Panacea.’ Pumpkin can devastate groups with an ‘All Hallows Eve’ wind attack, while the Eyeball unleashes tears of fury via the ‘EYE-agra Falls’ ability.

At least they're not running that retarded 30fps cap any more. The first game was locked to 30fps and while they later "unlocked" the display fps to 60, the internal rendering was still set to 30 and it really made everything feel that much worse. I've not seen a confirmation on the launch date yet, which is odd because Steam says they're launching on the 7th of October whilst everywhere else is launching on Halloween.

While the game has a strong female lead in the form of Wren, it unfortunately also has a male sharing that lead role. Unfortunately we cannot, in good faith, recommend this game with such a glaring oversight. 6/10

That's just you having a laugh with them right?
(it's just what I've seen from them in the other thread that it sounds rather believable )
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
