Bask your eyes into the glory that is this tech demo from SQUARE ENIX.

Hopefully they'll decide to release these games on the PC as well but til then:

So Much Win

Realtime, looks like cgi. Holy crap.

Yeah I just saw that via Shacknews ( http://www.shacknews.com/article/74201/this-is-what-a-next-gen-final-fantasy-could-look ) hopefully that's some indication what we can expect in the next generation of console dominated hardware, at least visually although as I said before who knows what will actually happen to proper gameplay. Razz
(I don't mind better visuals at all but I would like more complex game play with it if possible instead of playing a movie scene or what to call it. )

... which brings to mind what that studio and their console oriented engine and experience with that can do then what is the Dark Souls studio actually doing with their work, ha ha. Very Happy
(Which is a bit cynical I guess, Square Enix has some pretty talented people or at least talented developer studios behind them.)

(Still the above is a tech demo probably shown on extreme hardware without having to account for any actual limitations, real time is still impressive however.)

There is one positive way to look at this; when the next gen console finally come out, this is what they should be capable of.

Does that help? Laughing

No that does not help, because then we will be in another loophole for the next 15 years or so.

Anyway, this demo made on that new engine they showcased a while ago?

won't creating all those models and assets require a huge amount of time due to being this highly detailed?
