More links are posted on that site.
According to the latest road map we should expect Firefox 1.1 during Mars this year. Sounds very good.
Quote: | New features we expect to see in Firefox 1.1 include, better Macintosh integration, Safari and Mac profile migrators, a revised options window, and hundreds of performance and stability releated bug fixes. Mozilla also plans to include a new "Sanitize" option button, which would let users instantly clear all personal information from the browser cache. |
Here's a link at W3D that shows statistics of operating systems and browsers. Very interesting looking at.

I really couldnt imagine how they could improve on version 1, stability and speed of rendering is of course a plus, but hell, its fast enough already! Hopefully Mozilla will yet again come up with something amazing that I havent thought of!

Look at the stat page. Pretty interesting stuff. Generally Firefox has a very high usage and both linux and mac osx usage is increasing. Must mean that the total Windows usage is decreasing.

The one thing I noticed was that so many used 1024x768 or lower desktop resolutions.
Personally I could never have my res so low.

How can you not imagine? Morzilla should try to imagine a firefox that doesn't eat up your system RAM like someone who's been locked away for a week, for a barebones browser it sure shouldn't eat up 40-60mb of RAM. Seriously, those people at spreadfirefox who spent $250,000 on one terrible ad in the New York Times could've spent $250 to hire a programmer who actually knows what he's doing.

For the browser to be using 40-60mb of RAM it has to have loads of extensions installed. Tried actually fixing the problem instead of bitching?

I know that Opera has a very low memory usage even when compared to firefox. The problem is that many features are unessecary and generally I don't like it.
[sYn] -> What a piece of crap Internet explorer is! Why tha hell is it creating different processes? The explorer interface (explorer.exe) is not so good either when it comes to memory usage, stability, functionality etc.
Microsoft have also said that they won't make any changes in IE until Longhorn. The app is said to only be integrated in other products like Os'es and not be released separately. Remember that IE is "stolen" from the browser called Mosaic.

EXACTLY! Its an insane application.. I worry at those who feel its use is justified.. but it is the "norm" for now and I accept that those who are less educated use it. I usually do my browsing from my linux machine hehe..

Muhahaha Quote: | Internet Explorer Use Keeps Falling |
Quote: | Internet Explorer is continuing to lose share to the open-source Firefox Web browser. In the past month, use of Microsoft Corp.'s dominant browser fell another 1.5 percentage points to 90.3 percent. Meanwhile, the Mozilla Foundation's Firefox browser rose 0.9 percentage points to reach 5 percent, Web analytics provider WebSideStory Inc. confirmed Thursday. The numbers reflect shifts that occurred between Dec. 3 and Jan. 14. WebSideStory samples more than 30 million daily Internet users from more than 200 countries to determine the browser-usage shares.
The percentage of users browsing with IE has steadily fallen since June, while Firefox and some other competing browser have shown gains. Over that time, IE use has dropped a total of about 5 percent from its perch at 95.5 percent. Surveys from another Web analytics provider, OneStat.com, have reflected a similar pattern and even put IE's worldwide share below 90 percent. Firefox, which is Mozilla's standalone browser, was released as a stable version in November. |

edit: BTW, I'm back with Opera 8 once again. Feels a lot better, but I miss some good plugins like for blocking ads (adblock).

Firefox is the shit. No doubt about it. If you can't handle a good browser that doesn't just scream "Hijack me because I'm a piece of shit" like IE does ... only because it uses less than 50 mb of RAM .... what are you ... like 1994?
I only have 512mb and this is nothing. ...

alright now you've done it!!!
Me as a MCP have been sticking loyally to IE since it exists, but all the arguments of you firefox users have pushed me to downloading it right this minute.
I'll give it a good try and if it sucks....oh boy many of you shall feel my wrath!!!

If you don't like it, you can always try Opera 8 beta. It's very nice.

I must say...this far I like Firefox. Easy to use, fairly fast. I like the tabbed windows alot!
I'll test it thoroughly for the next week...but I have a feeling that it will become my primary browser

Just a short tip for any that care, Firefox is far beyond IE when it comes to CSS and standards. You can take my word on that.

Damn, 1.1 is delayed...
Quote: |
Firefox lead engineer turned Google developer Ben Goodger announced on his Web log late this week that version 1.1 of Firefox will be delayed.
The next major release of the browser had originally been scheduled for a March debut. However, Goodger said the release date had to be pushed back because of "the realities of the work remaining to be done," including a lot of bug fixes and testing to ensure a stable application.
While no solid date for a 1.1 release has been announced, Goodger did offer details on how to expect the next version of Firefox. An non-public alpha of 1.1 will be released followed by a public preview version, then several release candidates, and the final version of the browser.
Among the major changes and fixes expected in Firefox 1.1 are a fix to the bug that causes the browser not to retain the scroll position when going back and forward through Web pages. The update will also ensure certain Web sites and text display properly within the Mozilla-based browser.
Firefox 1.1 is an intermediate step on the way to version 2 of the open source browser, which is expected late this year.
