Guess I'm the easy customer, because I don't hate Origin, but I also don't do anything with it.
It just starts when I play BF3 and that's it.

"GS: Another major event for the year was issues around Crysis 2 on Steam. First it was there, then it wasn't, and now it's there again. Can you talk about your relationship with competitors like Steam and your rules for selling your games through their channels now that you have Origin?
DD: Clearly, there were changes made by Crytek to Crysis 2--the Crysis 2: Maximum Edition--that brought the game back into compliance with Steam. So I think consistently, if you look at everything we've said, we haven't taken a single title down off Steam. But as games have fallen out of compliance with Steam's rules, they've chosen to take product off. And there's been many quotes and misquotes with regards to who did to what to who and who took what off what. We've not taken a single title off of Steam. Certain titles have fallen out of compliance. Crysis 2: Maximum Edition actually brought, if you will, Crysis back into compliance by virtue of all of the content being contained within that product, so there wasn't some additional download that had to happen only on Steam. So the entire bundle is available, and by virtue of the entire bundle being available, they were in compliance, and lo and behold, it was back up on Steam. That's really all there is to that story."
Which makes explicit the implicit reasoning behind EA games being removed from Steam. Extra content/DLC that had to be a seperate download, and which wasn't on Steam, is now in Crysis 2: Maximum. Crysis 2 is now in-line with the Steam T&C, and it's back up on Steam.
"So are Battlefield 3, Dragon Age II, and Mass Effect 3 not available on Steam for those reasons?
DD: Yes."

It seemed to have worked fine for previous games, they're just not willing to compromise and it works in their favor. They get customers on their service now, then 'bundle' the games on Steam later on, getting any of the dregs left over.
- Still can't create decent game backups (unless this changed in the last few months)
I don't mind adopting other DD services so much anymore, like GOG, but not if they don't offer something substantial over existing services. Having to use exclusivity to force customers to use your service, if they want to play a good game, is very sad. The same can be said for Valve in a way, but they actually offer a whole lot more. | Add that origin cannot into gift-buy games

Also, Origin has just about non-existant community features.

I use Origin only because some of the games that I own force me to do so. I would never use it otherwise

yeah exactly. Forcing people to use origin for their games has nothing to do with it beeing successful. It's just another annoying sort of drm and annoyance for the customer.

Eg. Steam was better at the same age since it's release? For me competition is just a good thing.

Yeah, really good thing. Soon you will have 5 heavy applications with games scattered all over. Good thing indeed.
