My friends laptop went funny and wouldnt boot so he started up the built in Win7 restore to reinstall the OS. He thought he clicked the option to keep files (music / images / docs etc) but he didnt and reinstalled a fresh install...

Does anyone know a good recovery software that could recover his files or at least some of them?

After so much writing on the disk, he's prtty much screwed lol.

I guess you could try, but this is a waste of time, it's all gone forever.

you can probably find a torrent or some sharesite with a "portable" copy

He tried something called Recuva and it recovered over 52,000 images lol... going to take him a while to go through them......

If only CSI Miami were near by... they can put together smashed up hard drives and recover everything LOL
