Well i'm baffled.
It worked flawless before, could join any new or old pc to my homegroup and now suddenly it refuses to accept or do fucking anything at all Neutral

So after it started refusing new users, i decided that the least hassle would be to try and recreate.. well i was wrong..
I recreated on the server first, but others can't join..

Win8 pc giving error that the homegroup "disappeared" (yet it still is saying in the background that KZNSEVER-PC runs a homegroup...)

While my Win7 machines are giving the following error:

Now i've tried making the homegroup on all 4 different pc's, but all seem to suddenly fail accepting others..
Reason why i need homegroup is because sharing is fucked up, won't let me full share (read and write access) when i share a full HDD, getting some fucked up access denied or even pass and login, while i'm sure that all settings are correctly set and are equal on each pc. Yet all of them give different errors etc... Confused

Can anyone help me find out what might be wrong here? I've tried everything within my knowledge about this Sad

In my limited experience homegroups are a total pile of shite and you'd be better off trying to solve the issues with normal sharing. Are you only trying to do file sharing? If that's the case the issue is almost certainly to do with the access rights you are assigning to that shared folder, its not quite as simple as clicking "read/write".

You need to specifically go into the shared folders ACL' s (Properties -> Sharing -> Advanced Sharing -> Permissions) and assign everyone and ANNONYMOUS LOGON (click add under the "groups or user names" section then type anon into the box to get this) full access.

Obviously this comes with some slight security risks, they are however minor, if someone is already on your home network (who you don't know / trust) you're probably fucked either way Wink.

-Everyone
-Administrators
-Guests
-ANNONYMOUS LOGON

But i'm still getting this:

It just makes no goddamn sense, i have followed every step that was in the books and that i learned about... Did i miss something small somewhere or what is going on Confused

You didn't show the annon logons permissions in the screenshot but I'll assume they are the same as the "Everyone" permissions. You may also need to set the folders permissions too (as well as the shares permissions), stupid as it sounds these permissions act oddly together and inherit.

Failing that you could add "COMPUTERNAME\USER" for the other users on the network to that folder, might work better.

Windows networking is a fucking pain since Windows 7.

Oh fuck me, seems that for sharing a full drive, you need to go into the "security" tab and add the user (with permissions you want) aswell Facepalm

Like:

Added "everyone" (as user with full rights), took a while before it was applied, and now it works.
Fuck the homegroup, this is what i wanted in the first place anyway...

I goddamn knew i was looking over a certain setting/tab, stupid how you can overlook something like that Neutral
