so i am just crawling out from under the technologcal rock i have been under for the last few years and upgraded my pc. my old pc was running server2k8 and i was happily using alcohol 120 for my virtual dvd. i like it because its pretty much seamless (no tray icon, mount and unmount via 'my computer' etc). so now im using win 7 and starting from scratch on my new pc. is alcohol still what i am looking for? is there something even less intrusive or otherwise more suitable these days?
thanks that sounds good based on the description online. do you use it? is it as smooth as the one in alcohol120?
on that note, i just googled around a little and found that alcohol is still around (or at least for sale on their site)...for some reason i thought that software was dead in the water years ago. maybe ill look into alcohol 52 which is supposed to be a standalone version of the virtual drive from alcohol 120 that i love so much. anyone tried this in win 7 64 bit? is it really the same as it was in alcohol (minus the burning part) with no tray and simply mount/unmount when you right click the drive in 'my computer'?
Yeah, I use VCD. Basically you can just double-click image files and it'll mount them, unmount by "ejecting" the virtual drive etcetera. Does exactly what I need it to do and not a thing more (much like 90% of the tools I use)
Or if you want something simpler and less obtrusive (no letter when not used, virtual drive is "connected" on demand, eject command unmounts)
