We all know that PC's where never in that bad situation as mainstream media tried to show them to be. But there was a time where console gaming was as big as or even larger than then our master race crowd.

That definitely wasn't true in 2012 and I think it will go to the biggest extend in years in 2013:

 Spoiler:

And with so little exclusives consoles are really dying this year! The only titles that keep them up are GTA V (timely exclusive probably), GOW (both Gears and God), Beyond Two Souls and The Last Of Us.

I know that this is obvious I just wanted to add this awesome chart somewhere and last threads on this topic were old. Awesome chart is awesome.

Laughing

That's as bad as, or worse than, the "PC gaming is dying!" bullshit predictions.

They're going nowhere OP. In fact, with the new gen, people will get interested in them again.

And PC gaming is going to grow stronger as far as indies are concerned. Most of those PC exclusives are indie games, or F2P games that most of us will never play. Razz

The consoles are not dying. They are preparing to jump to the next gen of consoles. Also take a look carefully: many of the PC games are kickstarter projects, MMO's, F2P (C&C) or indies. If you look carefully, PC gets only a handful of triple A titles.

Also i dont think that list is accurate...a lot of the games inside dont have a release date yet and some are expected at 2014 (star wars, broken sword, da3, tief4, watch dogs etc etc).

AAA = Consoles first, PCs a distant second. This will be even more true after the next gen consoles are released.

As for indie/kickstarter - yeah, we're definitely witnessing something special here.

I'd say the brightness of the PC future depends on the first major kickstarter titles released. If they succeed - we just might see true evolution of game design again.

It has the potential to explode... Then again, it also has the potential to be a trend that dies out if promises aren't kept.

Which is a blessing in disguise. Those AAA titles are more often AAA-shit. Give me a proper old-school pc game anytime...

I dont agree, this year we get (almost?) all high production values multiplatform games*. That not always was the case.

* I do belive PC will get GTA V in 2014

AAA Titles are like pop music, designed for mass appeal, bland and based on tried and tested formulas that have proven to sell well in the past, a 'safe bet' to keep investors happy. There's always a few exceptions but for the most part, that's how it is.

The PC are getting progressively more attractive to the devs or publisher that never view PC as a viable platform for their games. Kickstarter, tons of digital download methods and mediums, even bloody petitions have made them consider about releasing their games on PC as well. We are getting better and better AAA console ports than what we were getting a couple years ago. There are more different games that have been traditionally console only games coming to PC. Darksouls, a JRPG on PC. The game was successful enough on the PC to warrant the sequel to be released on PC as well. How many JRPGs of this current gen if not ever have been released on PC?

I don't think consoles are dying or anything, they have just been stalled by the hardware while the PC grows consistently as usual.

List is innaccurate, and throws alot of crappy small (indie) games on the pc list. Ofcourse pc gets alot more of these, list far from representable of actual state of things imo.

I had no idea where to post this but this thread seems it'll do and it's still very recent.

A lot of the released games in that list for PC proved to be crappy and over-hyped in various ways. I basically look forward to Bioshock: Infinite.

The Tomb Raider seems to be a bleak reimagination/shooter with a lot of QTE's, something that already ruined the renewed franchise (Although I enjoyed Anniversary simply because of nostalgia but the original was sill way better than the remake).

Dead Space 3.... "we removed the scariness because customers complained of being too scared to play the game" and suddenly a scifi horror game was turned into a kind of close quarter Gears of War.

I might be interested in Prey 2 but I don't actually know how it will play out or when it will be released. Wasn't that delayed recently or even lost the publisher?

GRiD 2: Yes, if it's true to the original and they haven't nerfed it or totally ruined the feeling and physics from the first one, then I'm sold on it, but I have some bad vibes or some reason, a premonition if you will.

Sniper Elite v2? Sadly it wasn't even a shadow of it's former past and turned out to simply be crappy.

Painkiller: jeez, how many generic wave after wave monster shooter games under the Painkiller banner do we need?

Splinter Cell... Laughing

New Dragon Age? Laughing Laughing Laughing even more streamlined and de-attached from the feeling of a great RPG.

Thief IV: is there actually proof that it will be released this year? And who are the developers?

Star Wars: 1313 - uhm.. right.. star wars with guns, no force power, no light sabers, no nothing. I don't understand this title. Sure, we had SW: Republic Commando that was a one-hit-wonder, for some reason never followed up with part 2 to finish the story and the game.

Battlefield Rehash? What's that? New areas/levels for Battlefield 3? or even Battlefield 2?'

Metro Last Light ie. Metro 2034. This one I AM interested in. We'll see where they go with this.

Crysis 3: Everything started out great with Far Cry... then Crytek went into hiding working on the most advanced graphical game in the world, Crysis, that took the hardware industry years to catch up to. Good game nevertheless. Crysis: Warhead, more of a DLC. Crysis 2: Went linear and rather boring. Crysis 3? A continuation of Crysis 2 but with a crossbow. Doesn't feel particularly enticing or interesting. Good for benchmarking perhaps.

Dead Island. Riptide... More of the same generic and repetitive and predictable stuff. #1 did have the worlds best CGI trailer though.

Carmageddon? Please... It will suck.

Amnesia: Machine of Pigs.. I loved the first.. no idea what to expect from this.

As for the rest, it seems to be indie games or sequels etc. to games that never worked/sold/were any good..

Cynic signing off..

The PC "AAA" games market will decline after the release of PS4 and new XBOX, especially the latter. Microsoft will throw money in general direction of publishers to get exclusive rights to release games only on their new hardware thus securing its sales.
So 2013 will be the last year with parallel releases on all platforms. It will all go full circle again, don't get your hopes high as the renaissance of PC is going to end soon.
