I'm just asking if any of the released versions contains these extra 20 missions, because there a few releases and non of them specificaly note that they contain the extra missions. So if anyone knows the name of the release that does so I can perhaps find it. Appreciate it, thanks.

Awww, thanks BRISK, I saw that but I assumed Sci-Fi Sim OTY version wasn't the same as this one. Stupid me.

Freespace 2 with the mods and graphics enhancements is the ultimate space combat game. Strike Suit Zero Director's Cut is excellent but this one is still the king.

this game deserve to be on steam and it's about time !
installed it few days ago and what a great space combat sime game, very nice and enjoyble.
i think that i have never played it befor and a while ago, i was asking for some good space combat sims recommandation, and many humpers directed me to freespace 2, but i found that to make it work on win 7 64, some anoying installation with copying files from here to there is needed, so..i was lazy , but finaly this last weekend i went into it and found out how easy and fast it was and what a great game it is.
i guess that the steam version will come ready with simple installation, but any way..to make the long story short, this game is must for space combat sims fans. i guess it is still one of the best from it's kind even today.

Since decent modern space action games are almost like a mirage and the only available options are either roguelikes, pseudo-MMOs, elaborate Ponzi schemes or popamole arcade pewpewers, I've been replaying the old papa Freespace 2 lately and...it holds up pretty damn well, though it's not a surprise. Its flying model is especially satisfying in a semi-sim-like way, helped by the PC-centric controls, mission structure and the tons of mods available which make the whole thing potentially endless.
The community is so devoted that in order to enhance the game and make it fully enjoyable/customizable an open source port (FS2Open) was created and improved over the years: https://github.com/scp-fs2open/fs2open.github.com/releases/tag/release_21_0_0 (it provides modern graphical effects, textures, better controls, AI and so on). There's a recent mod organizer as well called Knossos that includes an insane amount of user-made contents such as cockpits, various improvements and dozens of campaigns: https://wiki.hard-light.net/index.php/Campaign_List (hell, there are even remakes of the Wing Commander saga). Good stuff men

Not much compares to FS2 really, Apart from hopeless friendly AI it's still a solid dogfighting game and I just wish there were more modern ones. SW Squadrons came slightly close but... not quite.
Oh well.
