Amanita Design, the studio responsible for Machinarium, Botanicula, and Samorost—all wonderful adventure games, by the way—has begun teasing a new project called Chuchel.
What an adorable little game, it puts a smile on your face and delights you with the goofy characters and wacky music, joy in gaming form
It's different from Amanita's previous works, a very brief (~2 hours) collection of gags with occasional (straightforward) mini-puzzles, but it definitely does its job as a simple showcase of creativity and dispenser of positive vibes. As much as I liked this experiment though, I hope they'll go back to the classic grand adventurous path the next time, the desire for more excellence in the style of Machinarium or Samorost 3 is still there. *keeps chasing the bouncing red cherry*

All kidding aside, this is another absolutely nonexistent issue born from the US "culture" which is incapable of perceiving the world without layers of artificial outrage, silly move from Amanita. If there's racism involved, it's from those who actually think that a character that's supposed to be a ball of dirt constitutes blackface.

I've never understod these things or why devs even gives in to it. Instead they should say "so you are saying black people look like this? Here's a picture of a black person and here's our character. As you all can see there is no likeness whatsoever. If you still think so you should vist either a Ophthalmologist or a Psychiatrist, or just try to be less racist."
NOTE: As of late December 2018, Amanita Design have elected to re-color Chuchel in order to avoid any blackface associations. I’m all for the change, though the question does remain of whether his entire characterization emerged from the stereotype, and whether changing it does what Cole argues Cuphead does: remove the overtly offensive imagery but fail to reckon with the traces it leaves behind.
