hello ive just got my new Ati all-in-wonder 128mb 9800pro and im interested in making .Avi files from tv show that are playing on tv
im totally new to this and im wondering what appz to use..

or maybe if you have a link to some tutorials or guides it would be very appreciated..

i would go to the links posted, and i think the program used for most tv rips well at least for capturing is virtualdub but ive never done it so....

Use Virtual Dub, it's free, simple and stable. No matter how many times I upgrade the drivers for MMC I always end up dropping frames when I'm capturing something important..

www.rage3d.com is the best ATI forum but www.videohelp.com is good too.

To start out, download the Xvid codec, Huffyuv codec, lame mp3 codec. In virtual dub set the frame rate defaults to 29.97, format to 640x480, audio to 48000kbits.

If you have problems with dropped frames you might want to try these tweaks,
