I bought an FX5700 Golden PDF AGP video card late last year and just recently I am having problems with it. If the fan speed drops below 1000RPM, an alarm sounds. Within the last 3 days the card has been beeping constantly but it is not overheating. The temperature reads only 29 degrees. The RPM varies between 600 and 1000. I dont think there is anything wrong with the fan but for some reason it is reading the RPM wrong and the beeping is getting somewhat annoying. I took the card out and unscrewed the gold back plate just to see if maybe I could unplug a wire to the speaker but it did not work. The card works perfectly other than the alarm going off but I cannot put up with it for much longer! Does anyone have one of these, know anyone else with one or have any ideas as to what I could do? It's driving me insane! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

* Check for bios updates of your card on the developer's website.
* If It's some kind of software that is giving you the data and the warnings, look for an updated version.

If above doesn't work...

* Are you sure that there is not dust inside the fan? Try cleaning it and put some oil in it (under the sticker).

The card is no longer supported and there have never been any downloads for it as far as I know. I took the card apart and gave it a blast of the air duster I bought. I have not got any oil but maybe some kind of lubricant may help the situation. Which sticker do you mean? I have emailed the technical support and await their reply. Until then all I can do is put up with the damn noise :/

It's the sticker in the middle of the fan. Under the sticker there is a hole with a ball bearing. That's where you need to stick the oil. The best choice would be lock oil. You know that oil you can use on padlocks etc.

Their technical support told me to send it back to my supplier and since it is still under warranty they said they would let me have a credit note rather than a replacement. Besides I just ordered a 256mb 6800GT which should be here tomorrow! Can't wait! Very Happy

May the NFOrce be with you always.
