I was browsing on the net and suddenly the screen flickered once and i heard something powering down and aero dissappeared at the same time. First thing i thought was that something was wrong with a hdd, but all were visible and i could access them aswell.

But is your computer broken now or not?

If not, it might have been Windows trying to update its performance ratings. Starts sometimes automatically after updating graphics driver.

If aero went down, sounds more like gpu issue than hdd...

Your vidcard drivers rebooted for some reason.

If it happens again, reinstall your drivers, and if it happens again after that, your video card might be dying.

Always the place to start, IMO.

Checking the reliability monitor is also useful (just type reliability on your start menu).

Didn't know the gpu would make a booting down sound. Some classical sound of something shutting down slowly. And my pc is working fine, just that one time. Aero came back by itself after a little while.
