Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

Quote:

Call of Juarez prequel arriving this year on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and that's about the extent of the announcement:

Today Ubisoft announced that it will publish Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in 2009. Ubisoft is again teaming with Techland to develop Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, a prequel to the action shooter Call of Juarez.

"Call of Juarez was well received by gamers and critics,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. "We're confident this new collaboration with Techland will bring an even bigger and better adventure to fans of shooters and the lawless Wild West.”

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood transports players from a ravaged Civil War-era Georgia to the Aztec ruins of Mexico. In the wildest West ever depicted, players can embody both McCall brothers in an intense Wild West storyline full of greed, lust and lawlessness that takes place during a legendary period of American history.

OMG!! Loved Call Of Juarez.... cant wait for this!!!! Very Happy

Average FPS. The "Billy" parts were really bad, while the Reverant part's were fantastic. Don't do stealth, just do the reverant. My god, blasting people while listing to the Bibile was something else.

We need more Wild west FPS!

Everytime i played with the Father i would go crazy. This was some really badass, thunderous, law-enforcing son of a gun. Used to give me goosebumps. Cool

Yeah Reverend Ray was fucking cool but imo the Billy parts were also fine. I really don't know why everyone hated them. I enjoyed them! It was a nice mix, the Billy parts were more relaxed adventuring and platforming and the Reverend was pure action.

They were patched much better in the DX10 version.

Call of Juarez 1.1.1.0 - DX10 Enhancement Pack
- Re-designed stealth levels for better gameplay.

Luckily the game crashed in the church (with my ATI card) and nothing helped so I never played further. That was until 8800GT and that DX10 patch. Even the first super hard sneaking thing was so much easier, I was like "that was it?" remembering how many countless tries it took the first time Smile

So if you do give it another go, please do so with that patch installed, you'll enjoy it more.

I think the Billy levels were necessary for the contrast to Ray, if it had only been Ray it would have gotten boring pretty quickly. Also just loved the story...

And I don't remember the sneak levels as that bad, I usually cant do with sneaking like in the thief games or Splinter Cell, but this one here I only remember as sitting in bushes and quickly rushing to the next while nobody is looking.

I even bought this on steam when the DX10 thing came out, time to play it once more I guess Smile

I hope they fix the shitty gameplay from the first one (linearity, spawning, killing a million enemies).

Upcoming PC games 2009 and onwards

Btw why the hell hasn't Neversoft made a Gun sequel? I've read they lost their Tony Hawk franchise and instead of saying "we're doing Gun 2 now" (like I hoped) they are working on new Guitar Heroes - WTF??

This game needs to be less linear and maybe even have an inventory system or something.

Gun sequel also please.

And yeah, I beat it early on. Then decided to replay it when the DX10 patch came out because of all the buzz about DX10 back then.

I was like 'WTF? I must have sucked all those years ago. Billy is easy!'

It's nice to have different settings. Wild West isn't overdone, it's still cool.

I don't even think the game won't be as good as the first one even better. The only thing that worries me are the sys reqs. Sure they'll be tense.

Too bad really. I really liked the change in pace and the unique storytelling through two characters. I enjoyed playing Billy just as much as I enjoyed playing the Reverend and I think they completed each other rather well. Frankly, without the possibility to view the story from both sides, it would not be possible to fully understand the motives of the characters.

Except that, Reverend levels were quite straightforward compared to Billy's. For example, there was the level with thunder and lightning where you had to make sure you wouldn't get caught when the lightening lights the night and could use the whip only when thunder strikes so not to be heard. There was the level with hunting rabbits and climbing a mountain to reach the eagle's nest, the level you solve the "riddle" to find Juarez's gold and so on. I think it made the game unique, since there are enough simple shooters out there.
