i'm in beta from... can't remember... 5 years ago?
game is getting better and better, but they are taking their fucking sweet time doing it.
alsto i'm a huuuuge fan of the first MOD... my first core netgame.

Do I get into the Beta when I PO it now? More importantly, is the Beta playable (quality wise)?

still some chopping/fps dropping/network shit here and there, but MUCH more playable than 4-5 months ago.  |

I remember when I said 2 years ago this was like Natural Dukem forever.
they've been working on this for just about as long.
someone needs to fix the search so we can be bumping old threads.

they are using the SPARK engine, their engine. (also one of the relevant delays until the last years for the game).

they started on the source, but they didn't liked the poor choices for dynamic environment; started a new engin for things like the dynamic infestation. http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/2006/12/dynamic_infestation |

played alot ns1 and it was great.
i bought ns2 on a christmas special (2 copys for 1) and since then i played this like 3 or 4 times.
somehow it's different and it was buggy as hell. is this some kind of new game mode? it feels weird.

New game mode? Uhm, that's actually the original NS gamemode. Did you play "Combat" only when you played NS1?
So far, I don't see many differences. Apart from the great graphics (but buggy performance) and some little additions (which are very positive imho).
Also, the client seems pretty stable. But there are some things that are quite odd.
The performance drops, like stated by Guyver. And the sound volume is somehow extremely low.

Considering the latest version of NS1 is from 2007, it is nowhere near the amount of time DNF was worked on.
