Stuff you buy online, Gifts, Personal Belongings. ANYTHING, they will tax it with 50% its value, if its a playstation 300$ 50% of that in taxes. if its a PERSONAL item from USA and its worth 500US, 50% taxes to it.
ITS FUCKING RIDICULOUS, im a AVID buyer because i order all the stuff for my car in USA cause i cant find them here, USED too, and now i have to fucking pay a LOT for that, ill have to give that up. Ok....
But that fucking means that EVERY FUCKING THING that we buy here in DR that is imported, all those cheap stuff, prices are going up.

Here it's similar, they increased the added value tax to 25%, and they think that will solve all the problems, when in fact it just decreases the spending rate. The average salary in my home town is around 5500kn, which is roughly about 700€, and if you are living alone that will barely get you through the month when you pay all your bills and rent...
So the situation is sucky all over the world, except in Canada, Switzerland and Scandinavian countries...

Jesus Christ, 50% tax on every imported item!? How the hell is that gonna help anyone other than the fucking government of course, since that money goes to them =.= Thankfully, over here, importing items up to about 100$ in value is tax free and you don't pay anything. After that there is a small tax, but not even close to 50%. But seriously, who in your government thought this was a good idea? What is their reasoning behind this?

hey man if it makes him even remotely feel better to rant out here then let him... i dont think its possible for us to live in NA and europe and comprehend the level of frustration he must be going though... i have few issues in life that distract me to no end but they dont come close to suddenly facing many items in my life costing 50 percent more and seeing the country around going down the drain with no hope or light at the end of the tunnel.

This tax came up because local bussiness were crying to the goverment cause people were "stuff everything outside and they were bankrupting" BS, they charge 40% more than the price they should, and people order stuff they CANT find here that are cheap under 200$

My mom and my sister (graduate, superb english and french dominion, inteligent, white, very northern looking) they lived in canada a while, they went through hell.
They had to work night shift cleaning offices, couldnt work anywere, last year she had to go to mexico to find work in a petroleum company.
That was her, a sumacumlaude graduate in a university that was links to canadian educational autorities.
What about me then? a non graduate in IT. Heh i will someday, but im not stupid, im gonna prepare myself for the change. After that if i ever come to DR its gonna be to overthrow these fucking corrupt sons of bitches or pay a mercenary to clean this up. (right.... hahaha)
