So on a impulse I just bought tickets to Milano from 27 december to 4 of january and I have no real idea for a plan yet Smile

Ive looked at Milano before and read multiple times, that there is no need to stay there more than a couple of days. So me and the wife want to find a nice place for new years (could be any town - Venice, Verona, Genoa, around lake Como etc) so any help with that would be great.

And I have struggled to find a place to see which events are in the milano/northern italy area - like a concert or theater on those dates.

I have no idea I'm sorry Sad
Only been to Milano once (ten years ago) and I've yet to visit Venice and that region.

As far as I know there are always concerts at Castello Sforzesco with various artists http://www.concertionline.com/concerti-festival/milano-capodanno-2013-tra-programmi-ed-anticipazioni/ (they don't specify who exactly though, probably isn't decided yet)

Ixi you really need to get out more Smile But it was worth a shot - onwards to tripadvisor!

There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

If you can take a car, maybe you could spend a couple of nights in a nice villa at Tuscany, if it hasn't changed since the last time I'd been there it shouldn't really be too expensive. (But be careful of the cheap ones!)

There's a lot to see in the vicinity of Tuscany - Pisa, Florence, San Giminiano, and the views and villages are awesome! Also staying in a nice, old cozy villa, with a big wine cellar beneath it is a great experience.

Haha well those cities are ~4-500km from here, and since I have to travel almost everyday in my zone, when I have free time I prefer to stay at home. Razz

Thats good advice - and I can never have enough of Tuscany and you can add Lucca and delete Pisa in my taste and of course also add Siena, but I am trying to force my self to visit the northern part this once Smile

Think the route right now is - Straight to Bergamo, Verona, Venice and then back to Milano.
Maybe have base in Verona, so we are close to all of them.

Actually held an full on 7 course Italian new years dinner party some years ago and the cotechino (imported from Italy) is the worst Italian food ive ever tasted Laughing

Edit: Hey Verona is playing Modena on the 30th! Me 1 Wife 0 Cool
