Hobo: Tough Life is a city survival RPG. The game is situated into an attractive city environment. It is supposed to be tough. You will have to deal with hunger, hostile environment, human unconcern and with forthcoming winter.
On the other hand we want to be storytellers as well. We will tell stories inspired by those less fortunate from real life, but also stories somewhat romanticized. We want to balance those approaches, because we are not trying to make some sort of realistic simulation, but after all we want to create a game.
Explore
Explore the hidden nooks of the city and look for useful items to help you survive. Discover various attractive locations, such as a subway station, the central square, a park, and others.
Experience
Enjoy a gripping story in the background of your fight for survival. Make friends and enemies, solve quests and puzzles, and find your own way to the end.
Survive
Fight for your life on the merciless street. Search bins for food and booze. Beg, resort to pickpocketing, do literally anything to make it through another day. Get something to burn to keep yourself warm, for the weather is about to get worse. Freezing winter nights may be your biggest enemy, but not the only one, so be aware of unpleasant surprises lurking in the dark corners of the city.
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“Everything depends on how well the game is received and what the players are saying. Also due to the complexity of development we cannot promise a specific timeline, but we currently estimate one year of development time until the full release.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“The full version will have significantly more content and features. Updates will be introduced throughout the Early Access period that will not only fix issues and improve optimization, but also introduce all new gameplay mechanics, places to explore, quests, items, challenges and much more.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“The game is still under development, but already in a very playable state and contains lots of game mechanics (crafting, hideout building, complex conversation system, skills, bin looting etc.). You can also already play with your friends or with other players online in co-op for up to 4 players.”
For the survival genre it is like scraping the bottom of the barrel (in the literal sense) but hell, why not. It's not a bad concept
I'll definitely give it a try with my grandchildren when it'll be out of early access

Gave that PLAZA rls a try. I don't know what's up with it. Seems every time I left the game the save got corrupted and when I tried to load, the game put me in a random position near where I logged off, the controls were all non-responsive apart from jump and crouch, and the streets were all empty.
But what I managed to play before I gave up on the isodemo was good enough for a 2 hours refundemo on Steam. Obviously the first thing was to test the isodemo bug, and thankfully it was gone.
And got to say, as of right now, it's a surprisingly good game. Survival is tough, you have to balance quite a few things.
So far what little I've seen of the base-building mechanic, it looks very deep, but very tough to get going. Building materials are scarce and what little you find tend to end up being used for other things to keep your attributes up so you don't die.
I guess it will become much easier once certain skills are leveled up but at the start the last thing you need to worry about is building anything. Sure you can plop down stuff you find while scavanging (tires, plastic crates, etc), but not freezing to death is priority #1 at the beginning.

it's not even surprising, this game has been solid for a year or two now (maybe the subject matter makes it surprising though haha). as for the difficulty, it actually doesn't let up until rather late game (also dependent on luck/techniques). second time playing it's a fair bit easier but it still seems difficult enough.
you will need to build things to gain access to the perk system which provide permanent benefits (not just when in your camp), and you'll probably need to build a lot of junk to get there.
not freezing to death is your #1 priority .. and remains so for ~30 hours because it just gets colder and colder
after you secure the best clothes and ability to not freeze to death, you'll probably still have a long way to go until you can become the king because this game is fucking huge in terms of quest content. kinda burnt out on the game playing in EA but i'll revisit 1.0 for sure at some point.
