So it's been a few years since I've done this.

I would use daemon tools lite for mounting image files, just wanted to ask if this is still the preferred software or is there something better I should be using now?

Virtual CloneDrive has all the main features, it's small and easy to use, but some games detect emulation and refuse to run on it.

Daemon tools has the most features and I never had any problems running stuff on it, but also has the most bloat.

Personally I use CloneDrive.

BACK IN THE DAYS
alcohol120 was nr1 with its rmps when Securom and Safedisc started to use disc data measurement as a cp
then DT came a low mem solution that became big when it could take RMPS from Blindwrite [10000x better counterpart of Alcohol120] from starforce and run those clones
but then Tages came and all was gray ... DT started to fight clones thats stole they emulation etc..
till VCD 9 came a that could read TAGES and dump the whole image , reading forward anf backwards making TAGES clone run

then DT started to develop they DLL drivers that would emulate a real IDE drive ... why emulate the Cp when you can make a driver that would fool windows thing virtual drives are real

but now DT lite is the way to go

I just unip the ISO with 7zip to the files and install..then copy crack. No need to mount anything. or have a daemon tools clone running all the time.
Once I get the ISO unzipped and the install done to make sure it works. I dont even keep the ISO just the unzipped image.

I dont think Ive had any disk mounting tool installed for about 3 years since I started doing that.

So instead of mounting the ISO straight off the HD and install it directly you unpack the ISO (time consuming and space consuming), THEN you install the game from the unpacked ISO?

In other words, you waste a lot of space and a lot of time that could be sped up a lot by simply mounting the ISO? Laughing

^ I thought the same exactly. Laughing Why to unpack if you can install it straight from mounted image.

Daemon Tools Lite here BTW.

There is now a working version of Daemon Tools 5.4?
I need it for Win 8.1 for emulating original-dvds.
There is any solution without using Daemon Tools?
