I wonder, why can't they just block a key that has been charged back/stolen?

I mean, they are 99% activated on something like steam, if not 100% these days, so it shouldn't be impossible to simply flag them.

That being said, I've bought dozens of keys from various sites, G2A included and never had any issues with the keys I've gotten.

No, I didn't click to read the OP links because I didn't read the story here, I read it elsewhere first, and that part wasn't mentioned there.

If any of those sites has an "insurance" option, they are scammers. Buy only on sites that support PayPal, so you can have actual insurance.

I've used the kinguin's "insurance" option
had a game removed from my steam account
filed a ticket
they responded in a timely fashion
requested screnshot proof
gave the seller 24h to respond
he responded and reimbursed me the money
kinguin asked where I wanted the money (paypal was an option)
I said store credit is ok

pretty standard?

but recently I've noticed that when you add the base game price with their "insurance" price
you get pretty close to standard Steam discounted prices, so lately I've been bying directly from Steam

G2A is the worst scamming site there is. CDKeys is the only good key site I can recommend. They don't deal with shady keys or anything and don't have fucking million different scam protections that they make you pay for.

G2A is perfectly fine most of the time. Their protection is mostly useless - basically a way to get extra $ out of some clients. G2A's marketplace is a very shady place though.

G2A is indeed a cancer. CDKeys and Instant-gaming are pretty good.

I never had an issue with any of those sites and most have chat customer service for a quick fix.
Also: why trust that steam forum post, anybody could claim that, it could also be someone from steam making a false claim. There are a lot more reviews from people that did get a new key or refund.
Game publishers are the scammers for asking different prices for the same product for whatever reason. It's good that there are stores to compensate this a little, otherwise pc game prices would easily go beyond 60$.

I only twice got a non-working key and both got refunded. They only requested I make a screenshot of me entering the code and the error as proof.

Bought something from G2A, then after ~2 weeks decided to activate game and key was already used. Contacted support, got refund less that a week later.

Yeah, right... I know you like to pay for all the mediocre games and pirate all the good games. Laughing But have you thought about the fact that some people might not pirate games? Anyway, G2A is a cancer to this industry, it's probably better to pirate games than buy them from this website.

Have you seen my game library? Pretty sure I own more than most people. But yeah, go ahead and make daft statements about piracy.

And yeah, I agree with Nodrim. Piracy is most of the times better than using G2A. Even devs have spoken out about how many CC fraud is being done over there. Costs more than a shmuck pirating your game.
