Firefly Studios are kicking off 2018 with a short announcement on the status of our upcoming Stronghold game, which we are currently referring to as 'Stronghold Next'. It gives us great pleasure to announce that we have now entered into full production on the next mainline Stronghold game for PC. Planned for a late summer reveal, Stronghold Next will be shown for the first time with a full gameplay reveal and information about the new title. You can expect the game's setting, new units and mechanics, full title and planned features to be revealed as soon as we're ready to show you what we've been working on!
As with Stronghold Crusader 2, Stronghold Next will be digitally self-published by Firefly Studios and released when it's ready on PC.

I would make some castle-defense oriented game for coop. One mode would have one player handling the Lord himself, the economy and the construction and another handling the hunting, the fishing and the fighting. Zoomable and isometric, should be able to handle literally thousands of characters.

Looks like it's going to be Stronghold "THEME" style naming convention. They gonna save the 4 for the release of a game based on it's roots location.
Following our extensive community Q&A series we’re rounding off the year with a full development update for Stronghold Next! We dive into the production, programming, art and design of Next in our first ever dev diary for the upcoming castle sim. Player feedback is already a huge part of the development for Next and in our end of year update we go into specifics.
