And don't do like me, don't get confused by (useless Mad ) long side projects and focus on your studies until the very end. I could have grabbed that master paper ~12 months ago if it wasn't for them liars xD

Solid state physics 2, luckily the new professor was much more approachable and the exam wasn't stressful at all Very Happy

I can finally concentrate on my diploma, which is kinda hard, but this is just the right nudge I needed Smile

Low altitude sonic booms/shockwaves can definitely cause damage, but only because of the massive amount of air displaced by an object traveling at ~750MPH+ (depending on altitude and such).

I do believe that the damage was caused by the concussive shockwave from the explosion.

Well, I dk what's the debate there about, but that shockwave thing isn't really new xD

I recently watched an episode of mythbusters where they tried to break glass by a low flyby of planes that wen't supersonic. And that's only 1 Mach. The glass didn't shatter, but they showed the footage of another flyby of an aircraft near to an RV, and the glass on top of it just went woosh! Very Happy

Now, this meteorite was flying at about 12-15 km/s iirc, and the supersonic boom happens at ~330 m/s, so this was like 4 times that, which generates bigger amount of energy.

Plus the air there was colder, which means more dense than your usual air at room temperature, which probably contributed to the damage.

@Frant: Very Happy Yay! A high educated toilet cleaner! :proud: Very Happy

What surprised me was the sound of cannons and shotguns afterward.. probably echoes off walls, building and stuff, but it sounded like a warzone for half a minute after the main sound boom set off.
