Codename: Herve needs more mustache grease money.

Promo video:

This will be an "Post-apocalyptic RPG strategy game, where your character will be an adventurer from a variety of backgrounds (mutant, human, cyborg). You'll be in charge of a colony and help rebuild the world.
." Basicaly a "kickstarter for a kickstarter on Kickstarter"

Not really much info right now, and the site disallows copying (and I'm not interested enough to look for a a solution to that), but:

- They are trying to gather money to build a prototype.
- Not kickstarting, Herve probably hates giving 10% away
- Eric Caen already gave $75, rejoice!
- Chris Taylor...Why, just why, man?

They also have Mark O'Green (which is pretty good, he wrote all talking heads in F1/F2), 20's depression era homeless guy (artist), and a producer who worked during the golden age in Interplay and apparently has no survival instinct because he's back.

NO MATTER the pledge YOU don't get even one copy of the game (as if it'll get finished) and NO refunds! THEY are NOT raising money for the game, but for a prototype to pitch to someone with money. And Forums.

Needless to say NO Fallout lore or references whatsoever.

Total trap.
Looks like this is how they're planning to salvage Project V13. The train wreck continues.

They probably kidnaped Taylor's family or fridge and forced him to take part in this money grab. I can't find any other explanation.
Also: I like how they don't use kickstarter so they won't be obliged to return any money Very Happy

EDIT: Oh lol at terms and legal notice. Basically: No refunds!!

"Will my contribution get me a copy of the Project V13 game if it is released?
No. This campaign isn't meant to fund the final PV13 video game."

It's CLEARLY stated, and some sheeple still believe that it goes somewhere else then Herve's greasy palms. NO WONDER they didn't go to kickstarter with this.
Chris Roberts at least gave you access to the game. Here you get NOTHING.
If Interplay folds, Herve will be twiddling his moustache somewhere and laughing maniacally. You don't get even a modicum of guarantee, it's just money for a prototype that can fail to attract publishers or more serious investors.

I can wait long for a game I paid for,but not that I don't get some sort of obligation, that if/when it will be finished I will get my copy,I will just wait for a kickstarter or something from them, until then, good luck with the basics

ALL the money ( which is currently $2023 Very Happy Very Happy ) goes towards building a PROTOTYPE which they will then try to pitch to publishers

Even if you pledge 10k you get NOTHING in return. Not even one measly copy of the game.

Meanwhile Herve buys new stuff for his yacht. No, seriously, I'm not even joking.
This is such an obvious money grab from start to finish. Using the name of ProjectV13 even if it has nothing to do with Fallout, "resurrecting" Black Isle (or rather animating the dead, necromancy style), no refunds and NO obligation to provide the actual game.

It's getting pretty much bashed by everyone with two working brain cells.

I mean I LOVED Black Isle games, and love them to this day. That's why I supported Obsidian and Inxile. And that's why this...this hideous, shambling corpse that is neo-BI should be put to rest.

It sounds like one of the shadiest and clumsiest scam attempts ever witnessed in the gaming industry..is mrs. Sarkeesian involved in this "project" by any chance? Laughing

Why are all these scammers flocking to the game industry all of a sudden. I hope they won't destroy crowd funding.

Maybe they can hire Sergey Titov, he might be out of a job soon.

Sorry couldn't resist Smile

Black Isle was brought back in name only by Interplay last year. Now Interplay is trying to use fan nostalgia to get money. Brian Fargo used to own Interplay before he left to create InXile, he's mocking them because he knows it's all bullshit.

Well, I think it has something to do with how popular kickstarter turned out to be. Who would have thought that throwing around some promises and a bunch of names from the good old times could raise millions of dollars with no real obligations to deliver anything. Hell, if you get say 3-4 millions for 3 years you could refund every backer and still turn a massive profit.

BUT WAIT, there's more:

Herve's mind slaves wrote:
-- Update #1 --

Not all of our updates will be of a serious nature. But this one is. The difference should be obvious, but in this case, we wanted to make certain people understood.

This is a real effort at creating a game. We wanted to be playful in our approach. We’re making games and that should be fun, both for us and for the fans involved. Game creation shouldn’t revolve around negativity.

We also want fan involvement. Positive involvement. That’s important to us, to the project. We want the final game to be something different, something entertaining. We want feedback on the game ideas.

We’re combining the call for fan involvement with a funding request. There’s no illusion here that we’re going to build more than a prototype with this level of funding. The final game will require more. But this initial funding method does two things. For one, it gives us an idea of who’s actually interested in a new post apocalyptic game – noted by their donation. This method, creating a private forum for those truly interested, also allows us to focus on those people. To hear their voices as opposed to the naysayers.

We understand there’s negative PR involved because of the past. People are free to make any comments they want. But that doesn’t help make something new. Those that aren’t interested in a new game can sit on the sidelines and gripe. That’s their right. We get it. The Internet fosters that behavior. Not a judgment call, just an observation.

We want to spend our time making a good game and want everyone involved to have fun doing it. That’s what gaming is all about.

http://www.blackisle.com/

And it keeps on going:

Herve's mind slaves wrote:

-- Update #2 -- Why you shouldn’t donate.

Something you should think about before donating or telling your friends to donate. You might be the cause of a small number of people sitting in their cramped, dark f****** shelter depressed because they’re not sitting in their cramped, dark f****** for real because the world didn’t really end.

Got that? Some people won’t be happy you’re helping.

So, if you have no compassion for those apocaleptics who want it all to come down around our ears (but not theirs), then you probably shouldn’t put in a contribution. But if those people, sitting in their ivory dungeons, annoy the hell out of you with their barrels of water, stacks of freeze dried, and smug attitudes, then maybe you should just empty the bank account on this project. Just to spite them.

Create some apoplectic apocaleptics. (Yeah, try saying it out loud.)

I guess that's a hacked account...I really don't think anyone in their right mind would write that.
