Basically as the title suggests.. I made the mistake of buying one form Ebay thinking it would suffice but no .. things a pile of s**** and a little to sensitive.. and RB and LB now refuse to work so lesson learned.

Gearing towards buying this

Just after some recommendations.. Very Happy

IMHO, qualitywise, nothing beats the MS 360 Controller or the PS3 Dualshock3. Get one of those and stay away from the cheap stuff.

You could also check out the ones from Razer.

I would recommend Logitech F510. It serves me great for years, fits nicely into hands, and has a hardware switch to select between DirectInput and X-Input, which means it works natively with Xbox ports (gets recognized as Xbox 360 joypad) and you don't need to use those mapping tools or whatever.

i used that for a week but then i sold it & bought x360 controller. ergonomy of f series is horrible. all of my fingers was in pain after couple hours in FiFA. dont have any sort of problem with the ps2/x360 gamepad.

Got 14 days full refund if so, but hopefully it'll fit my hands better than the x360 Smile really don't like that one.

There's also the F710 as a wireless alternative for a F510.

Personally, I own X360 wired pad, the aforementioned F710 and the PS3 dualshock one.
In terms of how comfortable they are to hold in hands I would rate them in the same order (X360->F710->PS3) with PS3 being least comfortable to use.
It's worth mentioning that the X360 one was the first one I got, so it could be I just got used to it first. But it does feel like it sits in my hands much better then the rest.

PS3 one is not bad in itself, but seemed too small for me - the X360/F710 are larger in size. You will also need a BT adapter to use it, and there's a potential danger of it not being compatible with some PC games due to lack of native XInput support (unless I am wrong?). The X360 and F710 will work with any game pretty much out of the box.

There is one significant downside to the X360 pad - a crappy D-pad. They way it's built, it's fairly easy for it to register additional vertical inputs when you press left/right and vice versa. There is a new and improved X360 pad with a better D-Pad, but you have to make sure for yourself if that's what you are getting. They are harder to find around here for whatever reason.

Basically what I'm doing as well as getting peoples recommendations. The thing I keep seeing though is to just plump for the official MS pad time and time again.

Could well be a good idea to just put the cash down for a Official MS pad as it will get used a lot and bound to get my moneys worth but still looking at the alternatives .

Although the Razer Onza looks great..

Please don't buy that hideous Microshit thing. Sad I can't understand why people like that... thing. You'd be better off gaming with a dildo! If you ask me, you should buy a PlayStation one, be it official or made by someone else and just inspired by the PS one. I have a Thrustmaster Dual Trigger 3-in-1 Rumble Force and it's been great ever since I bought it (which was more than 4 years ago). Never had any problems with it either.

I have a wireless controller but never really looked into it deeply enough as of yet..

Same here, I rarely use it these days (except for Fifa and and driving games) but the perfect compatibility with basically any game is a huge plus. Smile

I always had a wired X360 pad, which was great but missed wireless capabilities so I bought a wireless one. Best pad ever, PS3 pad sucks balls.

I was leaning towards the F710, until I did a search for possible faults. Tons of complaints about the receivers, and seems like Logitech haven't done anything to fix it. Guess it's cheaper to replace them than redesign them.

Had zero issues with the wireless connection. I wouldn't even consider wired again. And as others have said many games support the xbox pad.

I tried the ps3 wireless pad but it's messy to set up a connection and i have always preferred the xbox over ps3, ps3 is just too small for me and feels awkward.

wired 360 gamepad ftw. problem is, at this point in time it's very hard to find a genuine 360 wired pad, especially on ebay. but if you can find it you'll be rewarded with great compatibility and great design Smile

Aculy for a brief period while I had Xbox 360, my second controller was this one

and I was pleasently surprised with quality and usability.

I think the 360 controller is the best imo...unless your willing to spend a good amount on one of those rapid fire controllers or whatever they are called if you play COD BO2 MP or something along the same lines.

Playstation 3 controller with motionjoy 360 emulation.
Probably less hassle to just buy a 360 controller tho.

There's no argument to be had here. The only real choice is the 360 controller. It's just better than all the rest not only ergonomically, it's natively supported in almost everything now. And build quality wise it's top notch.
