We are going to hear more and more about it so why not create a new thread to be used for this from now and on?

- SteamBox (not an official name) will compete with next-gen consoles.
- Many companies will make their own SteamBox designs.
- Source 2 is confirmed to be in development.. it will likely debut with SteamBox.
- They are looking to release the engine with some game. "Ricochet 2", a codename for HL3, is confirmed to be in development and hinted that it will showcase the engine.

- Valve will start a hardware beta in 2013 for their new controller. The concept of the controller is to allow games that need kb+mouse controls, to be able to be played just as well with that controller from your couch. So a controller for Dota 2?

Ben Krasnow, Valve electronics engineer, confirmed:
- Valve's console will launch in 2013
- It will use Linux, not Windows
- Valve's hardware labs will reveal other stuff in 2013 (possibly controllers? VR?)
- Krasnow has been working on Valve hardware with Jeri Ellsworth since 2011
- Possible reveal at GDC, Phoronix thinks that E3 is more likely

PS3 was a linux PC until the ability to run it was removed. None of those ^ are PCs. Either you are trolling, confused, or.. stupid?

This is as much PC as 360 or iPhone. PS3's Sony OS is also based on Linux kernel, if I remember correctly.

I don't think valve head a choice in terms of OS, windows is too expensive and crating new OS takes time. Probably we will only see SteamBox UI any way. This it targeted to console gamers not to PC gamers.

Who the fuck gives a crap if PS3 is based on linux? That doesn't make it a PC(-like) device. In other words why do you imply this is a closed "play game / delete game" system instead of a "normal" PC?
