http://uk.pc.gamespy.com/articles/121/1219599p1.html
The Dreamcast classic will get new life this summer on the PC.
Quote: | HD treatments are still the hot stuff right now and by the looks of it, us PC gamers will be getting a taste of one of the best console offerings. As reported by Eurogamer, the Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio will be getting an HD facelift this summer with Jet Set Radio HD -- and yes, it's coming to PC.
And if you fancy yourself the creative type, Sega has an ongoing competition for US and UK fans to design brand-new pieces of art in-game that will appear in this updated version of Jet Set Radio. Would be participants can check out the official website for more information and be sure to check out Eurogamer's article to get a look at some exclusive screenshots.
Thanks, Eurogamer |
Sweet, this game was awesome back then, can't wait

HOUR 1 PURCHASE! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YEAH! ^_^
... well, unless Sega pull the usual industry BS of charging out the ass for what is essentially a decade old game. Shame it's only JSR though, no love for JSRF? That was leaps and bounds better than the first game and it just died when the Xbox1 went away. Such a shame, it would have kicked serious arse on the PC.

I would have thought they would instead do a port of the xbox Jet Set Radio Future. Not sure of the differences between the games but I would think the code for JSRF would be more similar to what they'd want for the PC
edit: err, what sabin said

This is exactly what I want. I don't want any new textures, models, animations, or effects. I want it literally the exact same, but at a higher resolution, with widescreen support. JGR's flawless art design makes the graphics basically future-proof, even 12 years later. All it ever needs is higher resolution. The textures really don't need much detail, since it's all based on large blocks of solid color, and the angular-by-design models literally don't need a single new polygon added, since they're meant to have long straight lines. Brilliant.
Well done, Sega. If it ain't broke, don't fucking ruin it. They made the right decision.
Correcting people since 2007 even if they're not wrong.

Ah wtf, why drop the HD ffs, too lazy to do something for once when you port it Sega?!

I don't see it as being lazy at all. At least, it can't be as bad as Sonic Adventure Ported from the DC to the PC then ported from the PC to XBLA..... then ported back to PC from the XBLA version
As long as there's AA and higher res, like what's available on Demul/Makaron/NullDC, then I'm happy. Oh and as long as it's not £30/€30/$30 |
Still, i would rather not see blurry backgrounds and some textures like that
Can't be THAT much work to redo the textures....

You won't. The original didn't have blurry backgrounds, so unless Sega monumentally fuck things up (*coughIOSportscough*) then it should be okay.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that "WIP build" screenshot :\ Well, nothing some AA wouldn't sort out.

Not to the extent you're making a fuss about, no, sorry. It looks the same as NullDC ... which, like I said earlier, is fine by me. As long as it doesn't look WORSE than something already offered, then I honestly have no problem with it.
