I'm looking for some decent games that can be played in co-op. Preferably RPGs, strategy and action but welcome to other genres (no MMO).

People can say whatever they want about Resident Evil 5, but I found it to be one of the more fun co-op experiences.

Have a look on the co-optimus site, it's where I usually go to for co-op games.
Had loads of fun with the lego games, torchlight, left 4 dead,...

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, anyone?
I think its one of the few coop games (mode in this case), where you actually have to work together as a team to complete the objectives.
Also Portal 2 is really fun in coop, too.

I was getting upset no one had mentioned Chaos Theory, Co-op never gets old. Your tactics can change everytime you play it. Pretty much all the ghost recon games are great on CO-OP as well.

Was looking for some myself some time ago. Most or maybe even all should work with cracked versions too:
Far Cry 3
Syndicate
Trine 2
Serious Sam 3
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North
Magicka
Left 4 Dead 2
Lost Planet 2
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Ghost Recon Future Soldier
Transformers War for Cybertron
Arma 2
DayZ
Worms
Minecraft
Sniper Elite v2
Sniper Nazi Zombie Army
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City
R.U.S.E.
World in Conflict
Age of Empires 3
Command and Conquer
Starcraft 2
Not all are real coop. In the RTS games for example you play together against the AI armies.

In addition to co-optimus, I've also found http://pccouchcoop.com/ to be handy - no-frills site that only lists PC co-op games you can play locally (with one computer, that is).

The BEST rpg to be played co-op is ABSOLUTELY this:
Dungeon Lords Collector Editions
played with a friend ad it was amazing in coop, amazing.
We played also Resident Evil 5 (very funny)
Conflict global storm (fun)
Gears of war (fun)
Diablo 2 (fun but not out genre)
Saints row 2 (very very funny)

Agreed, too many things missing.
We've already (more or less) finished:
Borderlands 1 & 2 (incl DLC)
Path of Exile
Dead Island
Portal 2
Left 4 Dead 2
Minecraft
Trine 2
I already went to the co-optmius site but a complete list seems missing there (I don't like browsing 200 pages to find everything). Something like the top list, but that's only 10 titles.
PC: Yes. Console: No.

dunno what you are looking for, but you can filter/customize the search results and order them in any way you like (rating e.g.). (check http://www.co-optimus.com/system.php?id=4&sort=rating&direction=ASC if you need some kind of 'top list')

Lost Planet 2
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Far Cry 3
Serious Sam 3
are all decent co-op experiences. Personally I always enjoy Civilization the most, or Heroes of Might and Magic.

How does one get to that website? I tried to look for something like this but I couldn't find it.
PC: Yes. Console: No.
