We shall see...

Alrighty here's my demo review.

-Demo consists of not even an entire mission (without spoiling it, it cuts you off when the shit hits the fan).

-Performance: My system specs- 1.8GHz , 512Ram, GFTi4400 w/128mb.
I ran the demo with shadows off, all other settings (including bump mapping) on high. Ran very smoothly..though there was a tiny bit of stutter with alot of pyrotechnics going on. Most people have a system better than this though, so no worries as far as framerate goes.

-Gameplay: Well, I played it through three times, and here's my take on it.

Pros:
1. (This may be a con to some, but its disableable) The tactical helment is some nifty shit. Really helps to immerse ya in the action. What it basically is is your hud overlayed as you would expect, except you can tell you are wearing a helment. Ergo, when you take a shot to the face, or nearby frag, the glass cracks momentarily, or if you take out a lizard upclose, green gut smear on your face etc. Three modes of display present: Nightvision, Tactical, and Regular. Nightvision overlays everything in white nightvision, ala splinter cell but brighter and more defined. However your view distance is severely limited. Tactical highlights weapons on the grounds, teammates via their respective colors (red, yellow, green), and regular just shows arrows/distances of the teammates without any highlights. The one downside to the tac. helment is it takes some getting used to, as it takes up quite a bit of screen space.
2. For the MOST PART, team AI is dependable, as in it follows orders to the best of its ability. Although I think they should be able to shoot a bit better being elite commandos and all. They miss a hella lot it looked to me.
3. Detailed weapons/ammocounters. Most weapons have a total ammo counter, as well as a clip ammo counter (The heavy reapeater has a cool little guage thingy for clip).
4. Fast paced action, although some bullshit which I will describe in cons below. Generally good though.

Cons:
1. What's that smell? I smell...loading zones. That's right, the game reeks of console loading (a zone every 4-5, minutes. they load fast, but still serves to break immersion)
2. Enemy AI has a tendency to not return fire when you are in their line of site, instead waiting to get mowed down.
3. Certain areas have endless enemy spawn until a certain trigger is activated (blown wall, hacked console). This is a bullshit mechanic, end of story.
4. The game relies too heavily on team AI command points in certain sections. For example, unless you don't send a squadmate to Barrel A to set up antiarmor defense, one mob rapes you and your entire team in seconds. These command points (snipe, anti armor etc.) are not always intuitive (some barrels offer defense or sniping, while others that look exactly like them don't), and it can be a pain in the ass searching for these hotspots.
5. The motion sensor traps are utterly useless.
6. Weapon sounds have no oomph. Sound weak and underpowered.
7. It feels very consolish as far as gameplay. The blaster rifle is next to useless, as you can pump a clip into an enemy at far off and not even scratch em. The pistol is more effective, which is a bit sad. The MAIN problem with it is that it allows for run and gun gameplay, and then all of a sudden you are forced into a ONE correct solution situation (send teammate to barrel B to snipe turret, while other teammate blows door). Thus gameplay is kinda hampered as you will undoubtedly die 1 outta 3 times the first time through at these spots.

From demo impressions, I reckon the full version will garner in reviews around 85%ish , would be surprised if it gets a 90 or above somewhere.
Solid game for a run through, but nothing groundbreaking, and hampered as usual by console development.

Woah this game is a lot better than I had expected... so much details everywhere... for exemple you kill an ennemy who is jumping at you and nearly got you and his green blood splash in your helmet HUD and stay there for a while... Smile

The only con is that there are some area with unlimited ennemis until you do something in particuliar, and I HATE that. And maybe it's a bit hard too, I will try at easy next time.

Great review Immunity. Your points of critique are about the same as mine so I have a pretty good idea if I will like it or not.

I will still play the demo ofcourse, you never can judge until you've tried it yourself..

Is the protection confirmed yet? It's out in the stores now..

Quite nice demo but the fire figths are far too long, the weapons seems very, very weak to me (example: i sniped a guy, used meele attack + rest of team shooting at this guy for quite some time, this on "easy"(!) )

Hope they fix that + team mates getting stuck soon (not fixed in final it seems).

After playing it through a few times, I must say it is a good game. Sure, a few tweaks here and there are necessary, most of them regarding the squad AI and functionality of the commands, but other than that, this is a good StarWars game.
The visuals are quite good and detailed (with a good maching to handle it), the audio is sw-themed as expected, and the action is fast.
Bottom line - liked it.

You must be talking about that big guy with armor, I think it is supposed to be hard to kill him. I didn't have to many problems in killing normal enemies with just melee on 'normal' (or medium or whatever it is called).

ah ok, i read on the lucasart forums (link above) that it was out, some guy complained that the issue with your team mates getting stuck wasnt fixed in final either.. but perhaps it was just some loser looking for attention.

The game is pretty fun, immersive mainly due to the helmet and the non stop smoke/explosions/energy flying everywhere.

But yeah, the main problems are:

- Tries to seem non-linear but really is
- Enemy AI is poor, as was mentioned
- Weapons are, and sound, underpowered, as was mentioned.

The graphics are pretty good, my Radeon 9600 runs it at all high settings @ 1024x768 with no problems. You also don't really sit around admiring the graphics because there is so much happening both in the game and on your HUD.

In HL2 loading times hella of a lot more long & rescent than in this game & nobody noticed that..
This game is awesome compare to all fps i played ;
liked squad leading & weapon choise, this things i missed in HL2/squad leading sucked there big time so it dosen't count/ & i don't realy like all this SW concept but this game is very nice especialy gfx & perfomance
50fps everything on high with 1280*rez,hopes they won't make final version worse than demo like it happens sometimes
about linear;all fps is like that find, kill, survive
if u want non-linear then there is rpg Wink
