If people at the party didn't mind, it was acceptable for the setting seeing as it was a private party, not a social event at a public plaza or anything.
I think to ask if something is socially acceptable, it would be something you plan on doing out in public society.

It went from a thought process of:
"look a guy with a sock on his dick..HA!"
to:
"well, is that socially acceptable? well lets define socially..as in generally social, or between only the members at that party. In general it wouldn't be approved of. But this was a private party I'm assuming, so then it would be restricted to only those that saw it. So it would be a question for those that witnessed it. And moral differs greatly from person to person, so perhaps it was acceptable at that time. we would have to know the people that attended."
