I thought that maybe we could discuss about this gaming year in general. To be honest I haven't had time to test every interesting AAA tilte of this year but one thing is for sure that this year MP FPS front was quite narrow. CoD: AW looked promising at the release but turned out to be another same old boring CoD we already got for years. Dark Sous 2 is interesting and just when I wanted to start it after spending almost 100h in the first one news about the actual PC version of DS2 made me to wait for it.
COD AW runs AWFUL even with UPDATE 1 or something on PC...

COD AW runs bad? Its like 80fps all the time on my system @ 2560x1080 maxed out. Feels very well optimized, using yarr version tho without any updates.
looking at your specs i doubt theres much you cant max out and have it running smoothly. you cant rock those specs and be able to make a fair claim as to whether or not something is well optimised
i did not find it to be well optimised, it ran pretty shittily compared to other COD games and didnt look much better for it.

I know i have pretty strong system, but there are games that runs like shit even with rig like this (while looking worse than this new COD), its safe to say its well optimized since it runs good. 4xSSAA is overkill, i dont count that as maxed out, Filmic SMAA is on which is very nice looking.
this was just a bad year for gaming. Liked Octodad and Dark Souls 2 and few small games

I am not on linux, tested it 2 months ago yes. I am running windows 7 (like i always do) but i am doing some research on linux arch atm and reading some wiki's
I find it quite sad, that even though Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Adventures got fairly good reviews, most of the "journalists" seem to have decided years ago that the genre was dead, and it's a game not worth mentioning when summarising 2014.
It isn't L.A. Noire, and not going to be a GOTY contender, but seriously, it was good
i have not finished a single game this year, all got dull barely an hour in and have nothing to look forward to 2015
oh wait i finished d3 expansion , cause it was so short lol
heck i didnt even find a good kickstarter to fun even dow wasteland 2 and original sin were awesome to fund but both games lackluster engines and simplified game mechanics really turned me off
