Thought this would be a fun thread to have, lets have some nostalgic throwback eh? Lets find out where we all started off as Glorious PC Gamers!

ARGHH!!! PC Master Race PC Master Race PC Master Race

How did you get started off on the PC, and what were some of the games you first first played that pulled you into a life of PC addiction

When I was around 11 years old, I lived in Poland at the time (Krakow!). In the mid 90's especially around where I lived you were considered lucky if you even had a computer. Most of us kids played outside all day climbing trees, playing soccer, riding bikes and fighting each other lol. The concept of a PC wasn't even something I was aware of at the time.

A good friend of mine during that time had his parents buy a PC and he had my over one day to show it off. The first game he showed me was duke nukem 3d, I was totally fucking blown away, it was the first FPS I'd ever seen. He also had me play some of the original grand theft auto, I was amazed that the game had a whole city you could roam around in and cause havoc, it was awesome . Also I remember him letting me play some old cowboy shooter game, the graphics were actually pictures of people you would have to shoot on the screen with the mouse, can't remember the name of it.

Lot of violent games to show to a young boy who never even knew they existed. I was used to mario bros, and ducktales on the NES haha.

Yeah, guess I was a little late to the PC party, but better later than never eh?

What were your first games humpers?

I think my first PC game was F19, on a monochrome display. We had PCs in Romania only after 1989, so yeah, we came a little bit late at the party.

Wolfenstein 3D and Doom on a friend's friend's 386. I had a c64 myself and was used to thinking of my friend's Amiga 500 as the ultimate in gaming. Imagine how blown away I was by Doom. The terrible framerate from the slow 386 didn't even matter then. Later we got a 486SX25 with 4mb of ram and I was a goner from that point onwards.

I played a lot of NES and SNES at friends' but they never really impressed me much. The computers appealed to me more with their large selections of western RPG's, open worlds and complex gameplay mechanics.

Test Drive on 386 with monochrome display. At my cousins place.

My first PC was a Pentium MMX 166Mhz. I remember playing a lot of FPSes like Doom, Hexen, Heretic, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage.

First game I ever bought was Monkey Island 3, and it didn't work, had to get a replacement disc.

EDIT: And the first virus I ever got is from a diskette friend brought to me with Another World on it.

For me the memories are crystal clear because before having the chance to play those games (it was one of most awaited moments for me in the academic week Very Happy) I had never touched a PC/Mac/nothing. All I knew was the consoles of that time (Atari, Intellivision, Colleco, Odyssey, etc.) I had an Intellivision myself and some friends had the Atari 2600 so those were the ones I played the most till then.

Even being on monochrome, the first PC gaming experience blew away all those previous colourful console games I was used to play Smile

1990. My friend's father worked at IBM Poland, so they had 286 with some wierd OS. The first PC game he let us play was:

sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
b: the use or language of sarcasm

Ahhh the memories Smile

It wasn't up until 1999 that I got my first PC. But after that it opened up so much more to me.

Anyone ever play redneck rampage? That game was fucking hilarious.

Vinyl Goddess From Marc

I was totally blown away by the title song. It's an okayish platformer, finished it like a hundred times, like pretty much everything back then when i only had ~10 games tops for a year.
