Rampage Knights is a cooperative beat 'em up game mixed up with randomized dungeon crawling and exploration which you can play alone or with a friend online.
You play as a hero trapped by a spell in a magical forest. All paths lead to a nearby ruined castle, where the source of the black magic covering the land is dwelling.
The game is inspired by the catchy formula of Binding of Isaac mixed with classic melee combat from games like Golden Axe. Each run you start with a bare hero and your goal is to get as far as possible in a dungeon with randomized items, spells, traps and encounters. Along the way your character evolves and changes (visually and gameplay-wise) as you find better weapons, items, magic powers and fight harder and harder monsters. Eventually you reach the final boss at the bottom of the pit (or your death).
You can play the game alone or with a friend online. We decided to focus online multiplayer on two people for now, mainly for technical reasons. If we see enough interest in the project we will add a stretch goal for three or four people multiplayer.
The main game features:
Online co-op.
Melee combat inspired by games like Golden Axe.
Randomly generated environment.
Gameplay is split into short (up to 60 minutes) separate runs.
Your hero evolves with new abilities and visually changes along the way.
The game contains lost of spells, weapons and other items with game changing properties.
There is a long term progression system where you can level up different classes of your hero and unlock new things in the game.

My heart jumped when I read Golden Axe...but then I watched the video.
Have you played Sacred Citadel? It's as close to a modern Golden Axe as we're ever going to see... hell, even the MUSIC is pure Golden Axe
The game itself is, in my opinion, fucking AWESOME and without even playing Sacred 3 I already know this is the last decent game to bear the Sacred name. Music, combat, levels, everything just screams "I love Golden Axe!"

I'll have to check that game out. I remember hearing about it but I didn't know it released.
Rampage Knights is boring. The combat takes too long. I am playing Golden Axe 2 since I was a kid and its combat feels awesome. Here it takes FOREVER to take down just one guy. Also I don't get why its the wacky proportions thing. Can't the characters be normal? I'll go play some GA2 instead of this, lol
It was a struggle, but the game is starting to shape rather nicely in the last few weeks. For those who are interested, above is a gameplay video grabbed from our latest internal build
We spent a lot of time in the past two months adding new items, enemies and unique encounters to vary the gameplay and enhance the challenge of the game. And the game is quickly approaching fully playable state (yay!).
Hopefully we will start internal beta testing within a week or two. Soon after we plan to release an Early Access version for those of you, who want to help with testing and fine tuning the balance of the game.
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“3 or 4 months.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“It partly depends on the feedback we get from the players. Basic building blocks of the game are ready and working. We have our own long list of features, items, encounters and enemies we'd like to add before we release the full version. But we are also ready to listen to the community and tweak the functions and features of the game according to their proposals.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“All the core elements of the game are in place - the combat, the map generation, the systems for enemies, items and magic. Networking works too. You can play Rampage Knights with your friend right now. We just need to fill the game up with all the planned content that's on our to-do list (including the bosses - the game is missing proper ending at the moment).”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“The full price of the final version will probably increase to $14.99.”

Hey, everybody! Today we have short but important announcement for you. We finally decided to man up and set a release date for the game. Hooray! Rampage Knights will be released on Friday,September 4th. It’ll be a bit of a hustle for us to hit this date, but it’s perfectly doable. And we really need to avoid upcoming onslaught of new releases during the fall and near the end of the year which could completely bury us. (It probably still will, but you can help us fight it, if you write a review on Steam or make a video, screenshot or just let your friends know about the game ).
Meanwhile, we are working hard on the next update, which should be out tomorrow. We should deliver the last few missing rewards for challenges and enable correspondent achievements on Steam. We also dug into the healths and damages of many enemies. Hopefully the pacing of the game is a little faster now. Other main focus are difficulties. We are trying to figure out how to make everything more challenging on higher levels without resorting to high health and damage from monsters only.
The game(play) is fantastic. Absolutely recommended!
I decided to check this out and it really isn't as bad as it looks, it's really fun so far Thanks!
~edit~
Oohhhhhhkay... "Ass Disease" turns you into a donkey (and if you find and use another ass potion, it turns you into huge pink buttocks that fart when you jump) and combined with "King of the Crabs" means I look ridiculous, have half a dozen crabs following me around and restricts me from turning back... I can only fight in one direction
This game was great. The difficulty curve was always fair (if you got hit it was your fault for not moving your ass out of the way). Discovering new items/combinations was always rewarding. My only criticism would be the stupid final boss fight and some of the classes being utterly worthless (I'm looking at you Battle Mage and Warlock).
I'll definitely be grabbing this come the winter sale.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
