|
 |
i'm sure many of the visitors on this forum never spent a buck on a videogame but i'm also sure there are few guys that actually bought a game for a reason
I bought 4 games in my oo so young life :d
1. Vietcong: first i was playing with the cracked version all the time but since my clan was doing so good in the clanbase ladder i felt the need to buy the game. I remember we had a clanwar on saturday evening but the new patch hadn't been cracked yet so saturday morning i rushed to the stores to buy it to be able to play the official war :d
2. Half life 2: very simple reason, it's the best game of 2004
i avoided updating crap through steam by just buying the game. Just saved up some money for it and voila! :d
3. GTA2: don't know why i bought it back then but man, i played till my dad shut down the power to go to bed :d
4. UT 2004: I bought this one to play with my new clan. Actually it's a shame no UT will never get as popular as the first Tournament
Maybe i should buy that one :d

World Of Warcraft - for online play of course.
Half Life 2 - big mistake buying it. hate steam.
That's it!
Since I live in Israel computer games are so expensive so...
Peace.

Damn..... what did I buy and when...
Here are some games i bought or will buy:
World Of Warcraft: Too much fun, best MMORPG on the market in my opinion. I'm also a WC fan, big fan, believe it or not i bought the game twice just so I have both the horde and the alliance packaging.
Unreal Tournament 2004: You can not be a gamer and not own this game. That's impossible. The great hardcore gameplay, the game modes, plus the vehicles..... man this is one of the most satisfying and fun MP/mindless shooter games that's on the market. The mod community is also fucking amazing.
Half Life 2: Speaks for it self.
Lord of the Rings: Battle For Middle Earth: Man, i love LotR, I love the graphics, the easy and fresh gameplay. I think it was the snack that I needed after RTW, I loved the game from the first time I saw it, loved the game first time I played It and man I have had some good times with it online.
Rome Total War: The graphics, the strategy, the romans. This game is truely one of billion. One of the best games I've ever played. It's hard to incorporate too many good things in a game, well imo Total War/Activision did It like few other game companies have managed to do It. This game has great graphics, a huge scale, gameplay which is almost never ending and a great balance between war and economy.
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory: The graphics turn me on. Sneaky gameplay I love it, the Coop is going to rock everything, plus the fact that I have loved and bought both prequels. Splinter Cell is something else and which each new installment the game is simply amazing.
Brothers In Arms: The squad based team command thing looks really excellent, plus the feel of the game, the realism, lack of crosshairs, Ironsights, WW2, too many good factors. Must buy. The game looks intense, If all is as I think this will be the best WW2 game.
Battlefield 2: Please.......
I also own:
Splinter Cell (XBOX)
HALO (XBOX)
HALO 2 (XBOX)
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (PC)
Battlefield 1942 (PC)
Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic (XBOX)
Rainbow Six 3 : Raven Shield (PC)
Rainbow Six 3 : Athena Sword (PC)
Call Of Duty (PC)
Starcraft (PC)
Starcraft Broodwar (PC)
Warcraft 3 Battlechest (Warcraft 3 + Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne) (PC)
And some other shit as well....
Sorry for the fucked grammar, man I am tired, I hate monday.

Some of the later purchases i've made:
Star Wars Galaxies, just because i'm a huge star wars nerd and i thought that i would really get into it... what a huge mistake that was! I really tried to like it but no.. The fighting and the control is just too damn lame. It has this overall rushed feeling about it, the graphics looks like shit on highest and still i get only 20 FPS on P4 3,2GHz, GF6800, 1GB RAM. Its very hard to believe this game is being updated and "improved" constantly and has been so for several years(!) I cant belive i bought this shit! :/
Half-Life 2. I expected it be fun and it was, unfortunately not as fun as playing HL1 for the first time.
Battlefront I really dig the graphics in this one, it really captures the feel from the movies. Great fun for a little while but coudlve been so much more. Bought it to play it online but I thought singel player was more fun, kinda pointless purchase..
UT2004. I loved the demo and decided directly to buy it to support Epic because it was, and still is, incredible fun. This is the best game purchase i have made so far.
Will buy soon: Resident Evil 4 for GC..

Command And Conquers1 - Loved the demo, got it as a birthday present and played like 2years
Warcraft Battle Chest (old version with war1,2 and exp) - Dunno why, sold it liek 2months after
Dungeon Keeper - yeah that's where my nick come from lol, sold it too
Diablo2 Collector Edition - Wanted to play online, I lended my CD to a gay fag who moved away and lost them, still have the box/sountrack/D&D game/ etc but without the game I can't really sell this..

The two games i can remember buying after playing the demo was Operation Flashpoint and Half-Life. I played the demo from a PC Gamer-covercd or something, played it the whole evening the first day, whole second day etc etc. I just couldn't let any of them go, they were _awesome_.
Of course i've bought lots of other games, but OFP and HL was the only ones i got after just beeing blown away by the demo.
I bought Ghost Recon after a guy at school told everyone how great it was. (after playing it i would agree).
Got Battlefield 1942 because everyone said it was awesome and i couldn't play everyone online with the cracked version, still after buying it for $50 i haven't really played it that much.
There's a lot of games i've bought because the first in the series was good, like Soldier of Fortune, what can i say, i had fun blowing peoples heads of. Monkey Island and all it's sequels, played the original on my amiga. Same with most of the Police/Space-quest games from sierra, i think i have all the pq games for both the amiga and the pc. Learned english from those games (yeah i probably should have studied it a bit better at school though ;)
There's also a whole bunch of games that i've bought and not even completed, some because they were boring (like Black & White and one settlers-type game on the amiga), or because i got stuck (Universe for the amiga.)
I bought most of my games for the amiga, i didn't have a modem and not a lot of friends who could copy for me. Same thing when i first bought a pc in 93 or 94, but i would say that i got screwed a few times by buying a game that simply didn't deliver what the back of the box had promised. Still have the pricetag on Dark Forces, $65 wouldn't see myself paying that much for anything these days.
Last game i bought was Unreal Tournament 2003, bought it last summer and still haven't played it a single time.
Games are like music-cds/vinyls, it *feels* better to own the actual package, even though most games nowdays come in dvd-covers with a 1-2 page manual..

Recent titles:
WarCraft III - I love Blizzard's games, the SP was worthy of the purchase.
Frozen Throne - More of the same as above, can't argue with that.
Battlefield 1942 - Redefined FPS online game for me, loved every second.
Battlefield: Vietnam - 1942 and a whole lot more, I still play and love this.
Battle for Middle Earth - Hey a game where horses actually trample people, crazy. I am having a lot of fun with this game, even though there are some imbalances, it's a lot of fun for me. And I like the LoTR atmosphere.
EQ2 - A starving man will eat anything... well I was desperate to play another MMORPG that I tried this. Damn what a mistake. Oh well.
That about does it.. there are many, many, older games like StarCraft, Nox, Age of Empires series, etc.
EDIT: Holy crap, I forgot Half-Life 2, bought the Gold Package over Steam, enjoying every second of it.
