I had this ATI hl2 coupon, I chose the standard HL2/CS:S package (I didnt want to download it from steam) and sent it to the adress... This was in early november... Since then I haven't heard or seen anything. Im 100% sure i sent it to the correct adress and I had all the three things they asked for such as the number on my ati card box etc.

Am I alone in this ?

I saw some other threads where no one had their copy neither, they should start shipping soon now that the holiday rush is finished.

If you kept the code on your coupon maybe you could download it right away? There's no advantage to the CD version unless you really have a very slow connection with limited bandwidth, in fact the only advantaegs are with the Steam version (no need for a CD to play, can download and install on any system at anytime anywhere, etc..).

Why wait when you can just download it and play it? I mean you'll get the dvd soon but in the mean time why not play it?
Do you enjoy the game more when you have a shiny box lying next to your mouse?

Um, why can't you just download steam and write your code there (= you can download the game) like the other people?

Fedex express? They would lose like 10% of all their profits to shipping peoples games out.

I was under the impression from the very beginning that if you wanted the game using a coupon you would download it, otherwise it would be a hassle to get it, I kinda expected them to use the cheapest method possible for shipping it out if its going to be free.

Think about it Once you download it You better have a DVD burner to back it up because they dont let you redownload it... U cant reinstall if you have problems . DVDS are ruined Alot easier than CD's so you can loose your backup... If u get a new computer u have to transfter the files over which is like a #1 dont of windows... There are many, many reasons not to download it. Also to ship a game CD for $10 using fedex express is very possible...Its a company they probably ship their own cards of their store using it....Why cant they ship it as fast as their video cards from their site? Are you saying that they save 50% or somthing if they let UPS hold onto their packages for 8-9 weeks before shipment or somthing? Fuck no!

I second that. Much faster and more effective downloading off Steam. If you reformat your drive you can just redownload the whole game plus CS:source and HL2DM.

Why cant I re-download it...just log into your account and load it up, if its not already there or if it got deleted it just downloads the whole thing again, I dont see the problem there.

They arnt going to limit everyone to one download, the thing just reads the files when you try to launch it, if they are there the game launches, if not it downloads them, you can delete it a thousand times if you feel like it, they arent going to take away your access because you deleted it, your account information is stored on steam not your comp.

Agreed.

Btw i can understand why you want the package and all, when you download that shit off STEAM you got it yeah, but it's not the same as having the game box, the l33ch box art, the l33ch smell and the l33ch book that comes with it (though in the standard packaging there is like a lame card thingy) Anyways, i always feel better with games when i have the original casing, kinda gives you a proud feeling.

Why? The 6800GT is not mush of a leap, especially when considering the prices.

Why not wait for the next round of cards to arrive. The 9800Xt plays all current games perfectly.

I don't think its got anything to do with ATI. It's all valve as far as I can tell.

The 6800GT is phenominally better benchmark wise. Also the fact that I was not happy with the performance of my Athlon 64 so I went to a intel LGA 775 550 (3.4 Ghz) I am running currently @ 3.8 Ghz with Corsiar XMS DDR2 PC 5300. I don't care what the people say when multi tasking Intel owns AMD epecially when encoding videos and playing games. Just a warning to you all though if you get a PCI-Express Rig with 300GB sata Drives you will need Windows XP with SP2 integrated. Regular winxp pro disc was reading both my drives as only 1 partition with 131 gigs. Also Windows XP wihtout sp2 does not recognise PCI-E bus so thats a bitch.

Has anyone actually received their free disks yet? I have sent in everything required, and still have not received my free copy of HL2.. ATI is so gay. When I call in they just keep saying "It should be coming soon" but they never give you an exact date it is being shipped out regardless of how many times you ask them, they just repeat the "It should be coming soon" line.

I dont know about intel owning AMD... they win the media encoding department woohoo, in everything else important like cooling, gaming, and value AMD owns. I have a 64bit 3200+ with a 6600GT and 1 gig DDR2 ram on a SLi motherboard, very cheap and I'm very impressed with its performance. When the 64bit OS's and programs start comming out, it should be even better.
