Hi, I got a friend who is experience weird things that I would call port probs, anyway the problem is that he can't download from anything other then IE and normally this would be a router prob though his big brother who is on the same LAN can download normally...
He owns a Nforce Mobo im about to find out which, I also instructed him to uninstall his Windows Firewall though this have not helped...
So any ideas?

could it be possible that his brother is blocking all ports apart from port 80 through the router?

Fraternal friction can lead to all kind of nasty stuff

i should know Wink

I'm no expert on amd stuff, but i know some nforce boards do come with an inbuild firewall. Can he use other apps on tcp/80? He should try another browser, if this is not working, it is possible that all other apps are blocked.

whoever has control of the router can block ports,a range of ports, a whole protocol, say udp or tcp for an individual ip.

How this is done very much depends on the router.

Hmm Just dont think this is the problem, although Whoknows Theory sounds more alike... Though will go further tomorrow with this...

What happens if he uses another browser like Firefox? About the nForce firewall. Isn't that only available with v4?
