Anyone got suggestions for a webcam type chat software prog? Haven't really looked at any since i got broadband ages ago.. thought it would be worth a laugh these days!!

Trillian 3.1 pro? I believe you can use it both with the Yahoo and MSN protocol.

i'm after something more like a cam you can watch with others maybe but not strictly one to one instant messanger type program.

Do you mean something like a virtual meeting? Maybe something like Microsoft's netmeeting would do the job.

Netmeeting and Gnomemeeting (linux) are very good for conferences.

Do you need a multi-protocol client? If the answer is yes, then I believe Trillian is your only option (Gaim does not support Cams). The problem with Trillian is the Cam support from what I have heard has some more bugs to work out. Unfortunately the Basic does not support Cam, only audio, so you will need to get the Pro.
If you don't need a multi-protocol client you may want to checkout the native clients. I hear good things about the Yahoo! clients but have not played with it in a long time so can not give a personal recommendation.
On a side note I read somewhere that MSN is either going to be (or already has) locked out third party clients from using Audio/Video. Just something to keep in mind when picking...
