Video Playback Issue

I have the following problem. When I play a video file like divx, xvid or dvd, I experience an annoying effect of video and audio being played too fast for 3-4 seconds (resmbles a fast forward function). This occurs randomly, when I watch video, no matter which player or codec is used for playback. I tried to reinstall all the drivers and codecs. It did not solve the problem. Does anyone have a good guess or idea?

Have you installed any codec packs? might be a conflict somewhere.
Use this to identify what codecs are needed for what files.

Remove all your codecs and codec packs. Do a regclean and check my sticky in the "Movie and tv shows" section.

Removing and reinstalling back all the codecs don't work for me.
I read the other sections and just wonder that the same problem occurs also when I watch DVDs. There is an option "fix direct show" in k-lite codec pack. It does not really fix my problem. I removed even Nero because it contains a lot of codecs in order to narrow the possible reasons. Unfortunately no success there. Still trying to figure it out.

Mmm, could be a driver or pure hardware issue.

Ive never seen the interest in codec packs.
Install DivX & XviD and you'll be able to playback/convert 90% of stuff.

If you only want to watch, VLC might be enough.

VLC has some problems with quicktime, wmv and rm files. Zoom player + specific codecs is the best choice.

I find MPclassic works well also, it does have issues with resizing quicktime files during playback, but it works well enough. The "Quicktime alternative" version is what Im currently using, as far as I know its clean and I've never had issues with it. I don't think it plays RM, but codecs will allow that Im sure.

I know there is a new version of MPC out but last time I used it it lagged like ass with xvid files. Zoom player also has much better OSD and the resizing cropping support is superb. Also using the alternative codec here, hehe. Over my dead body quicktime or Real player gets to touch this computer.

After spending over 48 hrs. for investigation and probing, finally I am fine.
A broken audio driver (realtek ac97 version 3.65) was the main reason for the video and audio rushing and stuttering.
Now using the latest 3.69. Cool
Thank you very much to everyone for your help and advise.
