The Beacon Fire:
In Dark Souls, players have a new friend. The Beacon Fire is a key feature that will permeate the entire game universe, serving a number of important functions for players as they battle on many levels to overcome the uniquely challenging universe.
The game world of Dark Souls is seamless, with no distinct levels and few loading times. Throughout the world, the small, warm light of the beacon fire will serve as a point of subtle relief that glows in the cold, dark world that the player explores.
The main functions of The Beacon Fire are as follows:
* Recovery Point: Use the fire to restore the Life Gauge
* Restart Point: When a player dies in the game they can restart from the last Beacon Fire, helping players progress in the face of adversity and death.
* Sharing Point: Players may gather around the beacon fire to share the Dark Souls experience

Yeah dude. Xbox owners really missed out since Demon Souls was a PS3 exclusive just as PS3 owners miss out big time on the Gears of War franchise.
Hmmm my xbox is banned so online play will be out of the question and if this game is anything like Demon Souls, multiplayer will be essential.

So guys is this a prequel...or what..some ppl call it Demons Souls 2,not sure..

Yeah mate , but there are more PS3 exclusives I want ... guess I have to buy one in the future..

It is not called demon's souls 2 because it is multiplat and sony owns the original name.
This trailer looks awesome. Whoever played DS 1 can immediately see how similar the character movement and combat is, and its great because I love the DS1 combat, one of the most satisfying melee combat out there.
If its more of the same with just a different name and settings, I say bring it on. Hope they keep the crashing difficulty and amazing atmosphere. It would be a really shame if the game becomes piss easy just to attract a wider audience.

- The character creation process will not be class based.
- The play style of the player character will have much more freedom this time.
- There will be many more spells and items, and the animation and uniqueness of weapons will also be increased.
- The online elements are very similar to Demon's Souls. There is cooperative and PvP.
- You can still leave messages, and see players who died at various places.
- There will be no Soul Tendency this time because they don't want to have to use dedicated servers to handle that shit again.
- Instead this time there will be more features allowing players to engage in "mutual role playing" which they say are still under wraps. They'll reveal more when it's time.

While previously announced that the game will be very challenging (Possibly even more challenging than Demons Souls was.) it's now been changed slightly so it'll be a bit less challenging though still a very tough game.

i hope that too, i was playing with a friend coop when that message came up, we both waited behind the entrance until he came up. When we rushed at him he was so dumbstruck that he fell down a plank.

Figures. The one game that I wanted to come to x360 gets a follower, which is dwarfed by making it easier. What´s the point?

Those two first screenshots look pretty ugly. Demon's souls isnt exactly best looking game, but the atmosphere more than makes up for its lack of graphical prowess. But in that first screen it looks like a flash game, with static background and gif of clouds moving.
But those enemies look awesome. I am already imagining all my deaths from them and the following frustration.
Sig too big. -Nothing is too big for Fedor. Expect a nasty armbar.
