Can someone recommend a flatbed scanner for ~$100-$150 that is good for scanning old photos for fixing in Photoshop? Scanning old negatives is a bonus and not important. The important thing is to get a good scanner in that price range. I ordered the Epson Perfection v33 but the order was annulled because it had sold out and the only two other places (pro-photo stores) take outrageous prices.

A4 format, 4800dpi, good colour reproduction etc..

(currently reading about the CanoScan 9000F)
Quote:

Maximum Resolutions: Optical: 9600 x 9600 dpi for film and 4800 x 4800 for all other media; Interpolated: 19,200 x 19,200 dpi

Scanning Mode: Color: 48-bit internal/48 or 24-bit external

Grayscale: 48-bit internal/16-bit (film scanning only)/8-bit external

Maximum Document Size: 8.5 x 11.7 inches

Interface: Hi-Speed USB

OS Compatibility: Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000 and Mac OS X v10.4.11 to 10.6.x

But it's $226 here, twice the budget, and while the reviews give it 9/10 in average the film scanning feature isn't good.

I would rather keep this thread open and get some feedback regarding the quality of this scanner Smile

Maybe you can also post some samples of what you have scanned? That'd be great Smile

In hindsight it was good that the Epson was annulled. I didn't realise it until I did some more review research. the V33 is a document scanner, not a photo scanner and wasn't particularly good for photos.
