|
 |
So I set up a plex server on my computer and I stream my movies downstairs to the Roku that I had.
Problem I'm having is, ALL my movies are MP4, but some of the, while they are all roughly the same file size, some takes almost 2 minutes to buffer and start playing, then have to keep re-buffering every few minutes, and some others, buffer in a few seconds. It's the same movies doing the same thing all the time so I know it's not my wireless connection.
I'm under the impression the way the movie was encoded may have something to do with this. Is there any way I can open a movie up in a program and see what it was done with or anything? Anyone got any ideas?

mp4 is a container !
Xvid , X264 and H264 uses it
even Divx avi that now use H264
the problem must be not the image compressor but the size of this image and the sound codec those movies use
some devices have buffering problems with DTS and AC3 ... like ps3
just use FormatFactory to check those ... or re-encode if you have troubles streaming

Using handbrake to encode since that's what the plex guides use. Not sure how to change the audio size. Salt sounded fine though, wasn't through a stereo system, just shitty TV speakers.
