Just a few minutes ago, an anonymous tipster pointed us towards an unlocked FTP under the ShadowWarrior.com URL. The images within have a new Shadow Warrior logo, complete with a dead Yakuza member (see above). Below is the logo itself (also found here).
Along with the dead Yakuza and logo images are several PNG files with “Flying Wild Hog” in the title, which means the Hard Reset developer is presumably involved in the remake or sequel.
Furthermore, ShadowWarrior.com has what appears to be some concept art on the front page (in fact, it’s the same background as in the above image, but sans-dead Yakuza).
After the Blade Analyzer Pro appearance in Steam Greenlight yesterday, a new Shadow Warrior game was all but confirmed, but these new images seem to be the confirmation we’ve all been waiting for.
Originally released in 1997, Shadow Warrior is often named when we talk about golden age of FPS gaming in the 90′s, along with Doom, Duke Nukem, Rise of the Triad, and others. An iOS port was released last year, but there’s been no word of a remake or sequel…until now, that is.
Along with Rise of the Triad, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and Doom 4, it’s been the year of the 90′s FPS comeback so far — if you were gaming on the PC in the 90′s, chances are you’ll feel right at home in 2013-14.
